I think it's quite funny how people obsess about the Hudcon dynamic, like baby clearly you've never worked nightshift & platonically kissed your coworker every now and then while also staying in close proximity...you're incapable of having a regular friendship under those circumstances.
Bro I don’t even know if the Two Princes fandom is a thing but as someone whose relistened to season one like 50 times I just wanna know did anyone else have a rough time listening to season two? Like season one was immaculate writing, the monologues hit, the character development hit, the script writing hit, but you go into season two and you’re sitting there and there’s just something missing. Like there’s a lack of passion to it all I don’t really get the message of it either! Like season one it’s all about like love is more powerful hate and it had some real world commentary on like younger generations and women being placed in charge of cleaning up the messes of dusty old evil men. Even for like a pg story it had depth to it! But in season two legit don’t know what happened! Listening to it feels like watching a later season of a sitcom that’s been running for way too long! It’s lost its concept! I think I wish it would’ve trusted itself to explore the homophobia aspect a bit deeper! That is an interesting topic that was referenced in season one and could’ve been interesting for them to explore! Instead we have Amir losing his memory and the main conflict stemming from the drama around that instead actual societal issues like in the previous season! Then I get to season 3 and guys I promise you I have tried so hard to listen to season three but then they start singing and I’m sitting here: “Is this a land before time sequel?! Why is it a musical all of a sudden?!”
(Ever notice how ever land before time movie other than the first one was a musical? That’s weird right?)
Anyways! I’ve seen a lot of love for season three so I’ll try again on this re-listen!
Absolutely no hate towards any of the people behind this podcast series it is quite possibly the reason I have such a love for audio stories in general and am currently looking into being in the professional storytelling world! I love the Two Princes I just wanted to share what I personally felt about season two of the show!
One thousand percent go listen to it if you have never heard of it it’s literally amazing! The vocal talent is phenomenal, the production quality is insanely good, characters are so much fun, sound design is literally makes it an experience in of itself and it’s appropriate for all ages!
food for thought: what would happen if insane canon sephiroth got sent back in time due to [shenanigans] but in the way that his mind is dumped into the body of his crisis core self? mentally he is batshit bananas jenova is my mom cloud is my puppet i wanna ride the husk of this planet through space. but physically and neurologically he wouldnt be the same, and jenova's influence wouldn't be part of him yet. do we think he'd kinda snap out of it and start questioning things? what if genesis and angeal hadn't defected yet? how weird and unhinged would he be about innocent trooper cloud? would he go to nibelheim to grab jenova?
I think he'd be absolutely floundering. I believe that canonically, by the time of AC, Sephiroth has lost all of his memories of anything other than Jenova and Cloud. So what starts bringing him back to sanity is just trying to remember what is happening. He can't sense Jenova because she hasn't got into his head yet and she isn't anywhere nearby and he can't find her - she isn't even aware of him yet, I think she had no idea until they got really up close and personal and Genesis revealed everything - she's a telepath and locked onto the 'mother' thing when Genesis was being an asshole and ran with it in order to manipulate Seph.
He only manages to get into his laptop to try and refamiliarize himself with the present because its just muscle memory to get the password in. He starts reading his own mission logs as well as current events through news websites.
He starts remembering other things as he goes, seeing a lot of mentions of Genesis and Angeal among his reports and then looking them up. He ends up joining their fan clubs trying to figure out more about them and accidentally finds his own that he had no idea even existed. He's never really 'surfed the web', which timeline wise they'd still be calling it that lol.
I can see him desperately trying to find Cloud - he's confused and his memories are all jumbled up and in his mind he can see Cloud in his SOLDIER uniform and his AC outfit which def could look a lot like a modified SOLDIER first fit so he keeps coming up with the wrong info trying to find him amongst the SOLDIERS and doesn't even think to look at infantry records.
When he does find Cloud I think he'd confuse the hell out of this poor kid because he treats him as though they already know one another - he doesn't remember that they didn't meet for years and years, he just remembers having a deep and personal connection with him. Clearly if they had such a deep relationship, they must have known one another their whole lives....
Genesis and Angeal somehow figure out what's going on. Well, Genesis figures it out - maybe he's also from the future via Minerva and is tasked with keeping the Nibelheim Incident from happening again. Maybe he's even already cured himself and Angeal and they've just got back from Banora and Genesis realizes Seph is acting so weird and figures out he's also from the future and is like 'oh shit, killing Jenova just shot to the top of my list above stopping the war and destroying the reactors!!!'
