... my case is... enigmatic.
It's from the 16th century. The Ugly Duchess.
I found it like, 5 years ago, when I was searching for something deliberately ugly to humoristically use as a profile picture, mainly on Discord. It was a success, and everyone was often praising me for my very beautiful profile picture. Unfortunately due to size rules I didn't get to show this especially enticing cleavage, but even then, I was in a North African server and virtually married to a Moroccan there, and he'd use the command IMG to highlight this face and type "HOT π", increasing my confidence.
When I was in another device and wanted to reuse this picture, probably to my AO3 account (where I use it to this day), I found this version (for sale) where someone edited the painting to add cat ears and nose.
Funky! I decided to use it (by the way, I downloaded and resized it for better visibility, couldn't find the original edit even with Google Image Search).
When I came to Tumblr, knowing it's nice for fandom reach, I found it repetitive to use the same username all the time and wanted variating and contrasting. Aside from removing the "ugly" part (I never used the picture here), I was thinking about a musical group that I like of the name Enigma.
Enigma of the Duchess sounded like a perfect name! I had and still have the goal of making the profile fit the premise better, having a theme, but I still have to think of ways of doing that.
Aside from fairyecstatic above and blog-total and luesolar whom she already mentioned, I have mutuals with apparently clearer nick motives (which I could talk, but I'll let them if they want) and others that appear more enigmatic.
