i feel like this unavoidably has some references to both ritsu and trickstar, and how mao always ends up: conflicted. you always tried to give ritsu what he wanted, and you didn’t have to admit it was a win-win situation. the next verse makes me think something happened to bring a lot of undealt-with tension, and neither of you would bring it up, but you still wanted to be around each other.

the next part of the song seems to be about you devoting yourself to trickstar activities physically, but but your mind being somewhere else... and then the “i’m so glad i’m an island now” part, it’s about how no one knew about the problems you were struggling with, you isolated yourself, but at least this way no one thought you were a burden and stopped liking you.
it’s really hard to articulate the very last lines but i can definitely feel that they fit... i think you’ll know, but if it helps, mao’s been told multiple times (mostly jokingly) he has a “sickness” because of his .... uh, ways. wow i’m sorry this is so long but i hope it sounds at all familiar~ T__T
