Sometimes I forget I can post stuff on Tumblr. Anyways this has been in the works for *checks notes* 6 months. On and off, granted.

How canon is this? Ehhhhhhhhh we'll see

Brother (nonbinary), it's a whole-ass thing. Ever since the main story quest The Second Dream one of the game's taglines has been

"Dream... not of what you are... but of what you want to be." 

Brother (nonbinary), there is no cishet neurotypical explanation for that. This game is deeply queer. This game is deeply neurodivergent. This game's devs have spent the last five years leaning into that. They hired a fan-artist that made porn of the game's characters (mostly M/M) to design deluxe skins.

This made me very uncomfortable for some reason. Even when I figured out I was nonbinary in 2020, it didn't really click for me why I didn't like the operator at all.

I stopped playing for a while since my friends stopped playing, but in 2024-ish I found some new friends to play with so started to get back into it. I hadn't yet played the New War, so I was just building myself up to that.

I expressed to my now-partner (@cheapcoho hello) how I didn't care much for the operator, how I preferred it when I was just a disembodied body-swapping space ninja.

They got to the root of the issue real quick. My issue?

Dysphoria. None of the voices really suited me, and my appearance, as neutral as it could be, was still gendered. Neither body type fit me, really.

(To this day I still lament how there are only two body types and four voice options, 2 masc and 2 fem, but that's beside the point)

My partner, bless their heart, suggested that I change my operator to look like someone else completely. I took their advice, and by their suggestion, I fashioned my operator to be none other than Ronald McDonald.
