The tense air around him was what caused him to wait for her acceptance. He wanted to move on her terms, as it seemed that Twice did a real number on her. Her bruises and cuts were clearer, now that he was closer to her and he just searched her eyes for any semblance of memory. Those soft eyes, her touch, Shouto remembered all of it. He softly smiled, trying to be as gentle and calm that he could.
âWhat kind of question is that? Of course Iâm here,â He replied, looking at the overly masculine arm guarding her. His eyes peered at her in sympathy. âWhat⌠what happened to you, Aiko-san?â He murmured.
When she reached toward him, Shouto hesitated. Should she let him touch him? Twice did say that she had murdered so many of his clones. But this was Aiko-san. Surely she wouldnât hurt him? His hand slowly reached towards her, placing his fingers in between hers.
âIâm here,â Shouto reaffirmed, removing the hood from his two-toned hair. He had a lot of explaining to do, but at this moment, he only cared about calming her. Shouto edged a bit closer, looking at the arm that was outstretched. The wounds on it made him visibly cringe.
âWhat did they do to you?â His eyes narrowed slightly. Shouto felt himself quiver with a bit of anger. Of course the league didnât know Shouto knew this individual; it was chance. Coincidence.
Aiko had not intentions of causing him any harm, even if he had any inkling to cause her harm. It wasnât like she couldnât handle it and if she couldnât she had this nasty habit of not being able to stay dead. Even if she were pushed into a corner she wouldnât be able to hurt someone she cared deeply about⌠at least not on purpose.
Any composure she was clinging desperately to would crumble the moment their skin touched. Her fingers weakly gripped once his fingers slipped between her own. Bottom lip quivering before her grip tightened on his hand ever so slightly and there was no holding back the tears any longer. His questions going unanswered for the time being as she sobbed, dirty, honey blond hair falling into her face when her head tilted down in an attempt to hide her face while she cried.
Shouto would be able to observe her wounds along her arm slowly mendingâclosing at an inhuman speed, but not fast enough right now. Aiko couldnât regenerate like this, not when they were youngerâno she was considered one of the âquirklessâ people in this world. It seemed⌠this wasnât the case any more. Clearly she was no longer âquirklessâ.
Aikoâs small frame trembled and seemed so worn down, completely exhausted and terrified. It was surprising how quickly her âstrong frontâ fell within moments of being with himâsomething Twice had been unsuccessful at; breaking her.
Despite the situation, Aiko found herself shifting, trying to get closer to himâseeking just a little more comfort from him. Giving a small, gentle tug towards, via their connected hands, in order to pull him just enough closer. Aiko moved to rest her forehead against his shoulder; when the distance between them was closed just enough. She didnât want to get blood all over him, but she sought comfortâŚcomfort that she had been starved of for years now.
Sniffling, her tears didnât stop, âI-Iâll be fine.â Her voice was soft but cracking with emotion. âIâve⌠Iâve been through worse.â She admitted while trying to assure him that sheâd be fine with time; at least when it came to the physical wounds.
ââŚIâve miss⌠missed you.â Aikoâs words now just a whisper, her eyes still closed and her masculine arm she kept curled against her malnourished frame; almost cradling it away from him be it to obstruct his view of it or the possibility that her arm would subconsciously lash out at him to protect her. As long as Shouto didnât do anything to make her or it feel threatened it wouldnât but it was a habit she had formed over the years.
Aiko wanted to say so much more to her old friend, but couldnât find her voice again. Hopefully he wouldnât press her for answers or conversation, at least not until she could gain control over herself again. It seemed to tears were slowing, but had yet to stop⌠and she didnât move and wouldnât unless he wanted her to or moved so sheâd have to.
