For me, these artists are the pioneers and the game changers. They did most of the heavy lifting and opened so many doors for women in music. The media is so caught up with ranking female artists and pitting them against each other but these ladies are all Queens in their own right. Kids today throw around the word “icon” so often, I think it’s important to be reminded that album sales and commercial success don’t mean shit if you don’t have artistry, purpose and bravery to back it up.
