There was something about the girls tone, the way she said her words that didn’t exactly come through as genuine. It caused Violet to get the smallest bit uneasy about even saying out loud what she’d thought about getting previously. Maybe it was seen as overdone, maybe it seemed cutesy, but that wasn’t why she thought about getting it. Violet liked the thought of the tattoo because of how it represented that life could be both delicate and tenacious. “What was your first?”
Charli didn’t judge people for the tattoos they got, or she didn’t intend to because, while it may be overdone, for some people it had a genuine meaning. She just got tired of doing the same thing over and over again. “My first tattoo? It was this sunflower in an embroidery style.” She stretched out her arm and flipped it to show the girl the tattoo.
