the  oxygen  rushes  out  of  the  room  in  a  single  instant,  charlie  taken  by  surprise.  he’s  never  exactly  been  what  someone  would  call  forward,  &  those  that  are  always  manage  to  catch  him  off  guard.  a  myriad  of  thoughts  enter  his  head  at  once  (  too  many  to  sift  through  &  parse  ),  but  there’s  one  easy  to  focus  on  :  BREATHE.  difficult  to  do  so  when  the  air  is  gone  from  the  room,  but  somehow  he  manages.  in  .  .  .  out.  in  .  .  .  out.  it’s  difficult  to  deny  the  good  doctor’s  magnetism

&  charlie’s  never  really  pretended  like  he  hadn’t  noticed  carlisle’s  good  looks,  but  this  -------  he’s  sure  there’s  an  unbidden  flush  to  his  cheeks,  &  it  that  hadn’t  given  him  away,  he’s  certain  the  undignified  splutter  he’d  let  out  had.  WHAT  IS  THIS,  SOME  YOUNG  ADULT  ROMANCE  NOVEL  ?  as  if  on  teen-romance-story  cue,  charlie  finds  himself  giving  an  answer  in  the  affirmative.  ❛     yes,     ❜  he  says,  voice  gruff,  almost  cracking  on  the  single  syllable.  he  clears  his  throat,  trying  to  ignore  how  much  he  feels  like  (  bella  around  edward  )  a  teenage  girl.  ❛     yes,     ❜  he  repeats,  more  firmly.  ❛     you  don’t  (  .  .  .  )  have  to  ask.     ❜
