A Bochum Post-2018 GreaseDinah fic :)! A little sillier than other fics I wrote but still loved writing it. Had major writers block so hope the ending isn't too rushed.

OMG YAY I LOVE BV!!!

My human au lore is on my blog somewhere which is more cohesive in terms of a narrative. This is more headcanons and life events than a full backstory. Mostly because I haven’t thought about the timeline and stuff, or how everything fits together.. lol.. okay BV lore in no particular order...

BV uses he/him pronouns and is pansexual. He thinks he’s a massive womaniser but he is not. Not even a little bit. He has been rejected by literally every coach. Dinah has a soft spot for him so dose Carrie. Ashley wants him dead (/j) because BV steals her cigarettes and refuses to accept (or just ignores) that she’s a lesbian. (He also steals Belle’s alcohol.)

BV is obsessed with money. He is extremely greedy. He has ties to the train mafia and he has a history of sex work. Anything for money. Literally anything.

BV will loudly insist he is a brake van, not a caboose. Nobody knows the difference and/or nobody cares. Cabooses are seen as the absolute bottom of the train hierarchy.

Being called a caboose feels gross to him: it reduces him to his class and makes him feel like an object.

BV is his preferred name. Bee is acceptable, but ONLY from the right person. Mostly Electra; Dinah gets away with it too. “Wide Smile” is a hard no, especially when used to get a rise out of him.

BV is absolutely neurodivergent. He has sensory issues, especially with noises and textures (especially after the 4th race) he hits his head when overstimulated.He possibly has BPD. He gets extremely attached to people. Then something switches and he flips completely. Pre-canon, Dinah was his favourite person. Dinah did not enjoy how intense that attachment became. Nor did Greaseball, making BV feel like a stray dog wanting to be let into their shed.

BV can be open, affectionate, almost puppy-like. Then suddenly, he’s the complete opposite. He tries hard to form lasting relationships but struggles. He has a habit of using people or valuing them based on what they can do/give him. He sleeps around a lot. He’s had many friends-with-benefits situations (just FYI, in my lore a lot of characters are non-monogamous), but this only got BV hurt. Especially as Greaseball only saw him as a mate and fuck buddy. And Turnov wasn’t good for BV because of his drinking issues. (BV isn’t an alcoholic per se, but when he starts he can’t stop. And Turnov is 100% an alcoholic.)

BV has long ginger hair that he keeps hidden under a bandana and fedora. He’s embarrassed by his hair but refuses to cut it. Long hair is also seen as feminine, which doesn’t help the bullying. His face is heavily scarred from fights and wrecks. Breaking the softness of his freckled face. He also has green eyes!

His Glasgow smile was done on purpose by a pissed-off engine. Said engine was furious that a caboose thought he had a place, that he thought he had a right to laugh around with the big boys, with that stupid grin. This is where the nickname Wide Smile comes from. He also has a gold tooth!

On that note of appearance, my own voice and face claims. (In the actual show, Tom Nihill and Daniel Ellison were my favourites, so this definitely affects my interpretation lol.) Most of his vibe comes from Daniel Ellison, particularly with the ginger hair + gold jewellery. But Tom Nihill is closer to how I imagine his personality and physicality. Vocally, the best fit in my head is Patrick Sullivan (2017 workshop caboose!).

BV is deeply emotionally attached to his fedora. This is his second hat. The first one was ruined in a fire (a fire started by Slick, hence their bad rapport). CB bought him a new one. Ever since, he’s glued to it. Any damage to the hat feels like being stabbed. It’s already beaten pre-canon but gets squashed in One Rock and Roll. (He cried alot.. mama had to comfort him.)

Trains aren’t biologically related in this lore; they just kind of form families. BV considers CB his dad, Toy Soldier / RC his brother, and Slick his sister. In terms of when they were built, RC is the oldest, with Slick being the youngest. BV has middle child syndrome, but he has big brother energy.

BV and CB do not get along, at least not anymore. CB mellowed with age. BV got angrier. CB didn’t want BV anywhere near the mafia. BV cut contact over it. BV has the best relationship with RC. BV and Slick aren’t on good terms. He would still help her instantly if she needed it.

For his villian backstory- BV grew angry being stuck at the back of the train. He hated being treated as lesser, being paid less, being seen as disposable. Cabooses were constantly talked down to. BV faced a lot of abuse just for existing: physical abuse and sexual assault.

He learned fast how to blackmail, manipulate, lie, and make deals. He realised playing dirty worked better. He made money quickly. He gained a reputation. People respected him. Engines wanted him for more than just using him. For the first time, he felt like he actually mattered.

BV became a well-known con man. He built serious mafia connections. This came with problems. He couldn’t stay in yards long. Suspicion followed him everywhere. He travelled constantly, dodging consequences. BV was good at being a hitman. That didn’t stop engines from hurting him. (His Glasgow smile scar)

BV ran to the yard (being the one in the show… what do we call the Bochum yard…?) after accidentally fucking up a job, killing more than he had intended. He was praying no one would question him. Thankfully, the freight train didn’t have a caboose, which made sense with how outdated they are. BV put on his charming, suave, nice-guy act and they all just accepted him.

When BV shows up at the yard, Mama immediately tries to take him under her wing (as she adopts all the freight; it’s kind of her thing /silly). BV avoids her as much as possible. Unfortunately, he has parental issues, so he subconsciously craves her affection. He stays in the freight shed when he feels like it (technically Rusty’s old room, but BV refuses to sleep in Rusty’s bed; he sleeps on a mattress on the floor instead). Other times he’ll sleep wherever he can crash.

Pre-canon, BV causes havoc when paid. He made deals with Greaseball for the yearly races and helped Greaseball win three years in a row. During this time, BV also had a failed relationship with Dinah (during one of her and Greaseball’s many break-ups).

Within the show’s events, BV was very encouraging to Rusty to race, especially with him. BV was paid to kill Rusty, not just wreck him. He was actually kind of pissed when bro started twitching again. Just before Flat Top gives Rusty his helmet back, BV steps closer, sees Flat Top, and immediately backs off. It’s my own HC that BV was about to finish him off but knew he couldn’t in front of another freight.

Post-canon, BV only got half repaired, maybe from not wanting to stay at the repair shed or because he’s “just a caboose” and he’s not really important. He lives with multiple injuries and PTSD. His radio was gutted and now there’s a constant ringing. He has a slight limp. And more scars on his face. Like he needed more. BV really turned into himself after the crash. He was humiliated. And no one trusted him. No one talked to him. He also struggled to feel confident with his face completely fucked.

Electraboose is endgame in my lore. Electra is overbearing and very clingy with caboose, which helps BV’s anxious attachment. Electra matches his energy.

I love BV so much. If I had time, I’d make a whole ask blog for him in my lore. There is more but I’ve already written so much! Sigh.. if enyone wants me to write fics about him or expand on a detail from here just ask cause I lowkey will yap forever... i do wanna write about his relationships with others... (also idm criticism if somthing doesn't make sense or i contradict myself!)
