Charlene

Searching for place that would fit for you and would help you feel relax and relief in this summer break was never been easy. The place should had views that captivates the naked eye of every person. Growing up I always day dreaming about traveling and what place should I go first, when I enter a book store and saw something that interest me it is the postcard of the island of Santorini, so ever since I really want to go there. If you think you had enough money go pack your bags, book a flight and go. Why?

 Well simple, it is a stress free place for its stunning view and has a mix of towering cliffs, inky waters and whitewashed cubism form villages.

My mama once told me that this place is one of the most- good place for sunset sighting.

The food and drinks there is just good and spectacular.

Santorini was never been left in terms of adventure, the island is great place to go because you can do what you want to do there like quad biking or hiking a volcano, and other things that you wish you experience for it is a place of nonstop adventure. The ambiance and the atmosphere there was warm and generous that would make you feel safe and sound. The people there are nice and good.

It is all part why Santorini, Greece is special and why every person should visit there before anything else.

          Charlene April Pasanting Soria was born in Metro Hospital, Pagadian City on the 20th of April, 2001. She was raised in Balangasan District Pagadian City, Philippines and was pure Filipino. Her parents were Carlito Nicanor Soria who is a government employee and Estrella Pasanting Soria who work abroad as a logistics in a company. She is the youngest among her five siblings but unfortunately her brother and sister died. She is close to her siblings because she always cuddle them before going to sleep every night back then, she’s just the sweetest innocent little girl in her family.

          Charlene was 12 years old when she finished her grade school year at City Central School in Cebu City and graduated on her 10th grade in Misamis Oriental General Comprehensive High School. Now she is currently studying as Humanities and Social Science student in Liceo de Cagayan University as grade 12 student. She is a believer of the famous quote “Education is the key to success” that is why she patiently strive hard in stepping stone to reach her goal in life. She is capable of doing household chores and cooking. Aside from studying, Charlene likes to used her leisure time in watching series movie like her favourite series “Game of Thrones and How to Get Away with Murder”. She used to play badminton with her colleagues back when she’s in grade school but now sports isn’t her thing, she just want to focus on her studies. Charlene has her hidden talent, she knows how to twist her foot that it makes sounds, she also know how to dance, sing, and act.

          Growing up, she did not feel to have a complete family, she did not even have a complete happy family picture because when she is a kid her father used to work abroad and then now she is all grown up, her mother work abroad, she learns that there are things that we cannot force to stay. Since childhood, she is just a cute little curious girl who always asked question about how life goes and does not get tired to listen to her parents and elder friends advices and life experiences. Charlene is a good girl who used to carry her mama’s bag when her mama gets home, she never ever in her entire life did anything stupid that would make her parents disappoint in her. She always want to be the best in everything she do, so that her parents will be proud. But as she tried her very best, she gets tired too. She realize that life is never been easy as it is. However, Charlene is a brave girl, she doesn’t let one thing hinder her from getting her dream. Back then Charlene did not know what she want to be when she grow up but as she grew up she knows that her heart desire belongs to helping someone win the trial in the justice court, a lawyer and now it is her grandest dream.

I was at the hallway when “Hey, Charlene kuan kaayo ka ay… “ my classmate Rhodesa always used the term “kuan” whenever she’s talking to me or when she’s preferring to something. When I got home my mom would tell me to kuan my things so it won’t be mess. Every day kuan term is always term that I always hear. And I was wondering what really kuan means?

Kuan is generally used as bisaya expression term that used to pause word to fill in when the speaker cannot think of the right word (example: um…, well). It is commonly used by the Cebuano sentence. But kuan somehow used as other term in other places. According to the 2010 United States Census, “Kuan is the 20676th most common surname in the United States, belonging to 1280 individuals. It is most common among Asian/Pacific Islander (82.19%) individuals”. Kuan term spread throughout years, Cebuano is not the only one who used this term in an everyday life but also Kagay-anon, Boholano, Pagadianon and other places in Visayas and Mindanao used this famous term with the same meaning as it is. However, my close friend Eliza once told me about this goddess in China namely Guan Yin that spelt Kuan Yim which means their Goddess name of Compassion, Mercy and Kindness is considered to be a mother-goddess and patron of seamen.  It is the short form for Kuan-Shi Yin, meaning- observing the sounds (or cries) of (human) world. She told me that this Goddess is highly respected among all Asian cultures.

This picture was taken on 2014 in Malaysia, when the priest there carry me. The moment when my mama gave birth to me on April 20, 2001 I was blessed because she let me show what the world is. This is me, I am Charlene April Pasanting Soria. 

I was very young and innocent back then. Receiving gifts on my birthday is not really my thing but I was surprise because I was quite happy here. Whenever its my birthday I always tell my parents to celebrate my birthday in the resorts where I can see a lot of pool and have some fun.

I remember it was my 10th birthday in this picture where I celebrate my birthday in a springland resort, Pagadian City, with my most favorite people. I remember that the thing in my back was the first lifebuoy in my entire life. It is one of my favorite picture so far.

They say I can be a good model when I grow up so my tita told me to practice some pose and then I came with these pose.

My brother said that I should try to open my eyes under the water. Me:

This photo was one of the best childhood memories I ever had because it is my first time to be on top 1 since grade 3, though its not an actual of photo of me receiving certificate but it is. Since that day I am a consistent honor student. I thank God for he blesses me so much, he give me more than what I ask for. 

As I walk to every school’s stage just to receive a certificate with a handshake of professional people makes me feel that in every step that I take it is my stepping stone towards my greatest dreams. I’m so proud of you self!

Everytime my family and relatives look this picture they genuinely laugh and smile because between this 2, I just look like chocolate hills literally HAHAHAHA I’m just proud to be a morena girl. It was taken in Bohol when we’re having our tour as a family. They’re just a tourist. #PROUDTOBEAMORENA

It is 1st week of my grade 10 year in MOGCHS. This photo make me realize that despite all the struggle and trials I’ve been through, I can still smile.

when I was a kid, I experience bullying but as I grew up I realize that I can be braver and fiercer than they ever think. #labanlang

I am very sweet, caring and a thoughtful kind of daughter and a sister. Whenever my parents had a problem and when my mama starts to cry, I always wondered how can I make her stop. I know that my parents wouldn’t tell us every problem that they’re going through, but I can see it through mama’s eyes. Having this kind of situation makes me want to become a successful one in the future. #unconditionallove

When she came into my life, she never failed to teach me about life on how to handle things with love and care. I’ve learned a lot from her. Her words of wisdom will always put in my mind and my heart. This woman beside me is confidently beautiful with the heart. #niecelove

The beginning of my life was fun and full of excitement without any responsibility. My life begin in a small but beautiful city called Pagadian City. My life from then is very normal like other kids, just playing around having fun with my friends. Just go to school without even thinking what problem might come tomorrow.

Dear Heavenly Father,

      First of all thank you for the life, thank you for the fresh air that I breath and the delicious food that swirling in my mouth and especially for giving me the opportunity to live in this beautiful world but full of mystery. I also thank you for the genuine and wonderful people I have met along my journey because some of them inspire, motivate, and love me as I am and some of them challenge me to become a stronger one in the future, they are the reason my Father why I treasure and love my life because they made me realize how beautiful and meaningful life is.

      I know O Lord, that since I was born I already have a sin and as I grew up there are lot of sin that I committed. I’m not perfect, I commit mistakes, I forgot to pray and my faith to you is not that strong and sometimes there are moment when I have let my problem ruin my mood and loose my temper. Forgive O Lord for I am a sinner that blind myself to the multiple blessing I have receive by you. But God I know you know my pain and the things that I’m going through, I’m kneeling in front of you hoping and pleasing you to help me in reaching my goals so that I can help others especially my parents by providing what their needs and wants in your will O God someday. But you know what O God sometimes I have no idea what I’m doing in my life, I just felt like I’m drowning like in drama and I wonder and ask when will this end? But I believe and trust you O Lord, I know that you already give me strength and guide me to survive in this chaotic world. You’re the only person that knows me and know my heart very well so I won’t question your authority especially the path that you make for me. I also know that as I walk towards my journey, I know I’m in the right path because I’m walking with you by my side. Despite of the sin that I committed you never stop loving me, your love is unconditional. Thank you and I love you Jesus Christ. You are Everything, indeed.

Do you think you are what you are right now, if you don’t have dream? Why is it that you keep on striving hard in your life? Is it because you have a dream that you want to pursue? 

      When you’re sitting on the couch feeling the state of being solitude staring how beautiful the stars and moon is, imagining what would be the life that you may have in the future is considered a Dream. If you don’t have dream then there will be no ambition to chase, there will be less reason to live, and there will be no goals to reach. Not having dreams is like walking in an endless desert. We must plan on what we want to do and by that we should pursue our goals and for these goals, we need to dream.

      Dream has something bigger to do in our entire life, it is incredibly important, it might change to who we are today. The Dream is already been implanted in each one of us, we don’t know when but we are certain that it has always been there like the bone in our body, its just a matter of how we used it. Everybody has a dream whether its big ones or small ones. Having a dream is very essential to everyone, even elite people has their dream that makes them what they are today. But dream is not just a dream that can easily get by anyone, as what Walt Disney said “All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them” Dream comes with a great responsibility that we have to work hard in order to achieve it . Dream helps us to achieve what we want to achieve because it motivate and inspire us on reaching the goals that we want. It is one of the most essential thing in one’s life. So we must keep on dreaming until we are what we want us to be, be a dreamer.

But the question is do you have a dream?

“Don’t leave me Kirsten, I can’t bear to watch you dying!!!” Nikka said while crying. Kirsten touches nikka’s face and said “Just take care of your self and always remember that I LOVE YOU SO MUCH more than you ever know!”. Kirsten tried to stand from his bed and hug nikka, he slowly lift nikka’s chin until their eyes meet and look her intently in the eye, he lean closer to nikka’s face and he brush his lips against her passionately.

Nikka’s tears fall while still sleeping until she notice that there’s a man standing in front of her bed (the man inside her dream) watching her. He has a dark brown hair, hazel eyes, and a little bit taller than Nikka his name is Kirsten ‘KIRSTEN FORD’.

Nikka woke up with shocking face, “WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?!” Nikka said.

“Your mom told me to go upstairs and wake you up” Kirsten replied.

“ Yeah, but do you know how to knock a door?” Nikka said with big eyes.

“ I knock it maybe 100 times but you’re not responding, so what do you think I’m going to do?” he said sarcastically. Nikka lidded her eyes while looking on kirsten.

“Why are you staring at me like that? he said.

Are you not afraid that it’s our grade 12 first day of class and yet we’re late? He continued.

Nikka realize that it’s their first day of class with his best friend kirsten.

“ GOOOOOSHHH! Oh no,I need to hurry up just wait me downstairs and I’ll finish my thing as fast as I can” nikka said.

 After 30 minutes, Nikka and Kirsten went to school and search their name in every section. Kirsten’s classroom is a bit far from Nikka’s classroom. The school bell’s ring so they both go to their respective classrooms. After school 3:30 PM, Nikka go over at Kirsten’s house.

 “hey, what’s up?” nikka say coming in

  “hey, ready for some fun? Kirsten’s sister says getting closer to nikka.

  “You’re not coming Fiona.” kirsten say crossing his arms looking at her sister

 “But why? I already clean my room, do my laundry and washed the dishes, I almost clean the entire house. Why can’t I go with you?” Fiona protested.

Kirsten pull Fiona’s ear closer to his mouth and say “I had prepared something for Nikka”.

 “Whaaaaaat? Is that what you said to me years ago?” Fiona whisper.

  “Yes, so just stay here, okay?” Kirsten eyes wink.

  “Omo! Are you going to confessed to her later?” Fiona whisper excitingly.

  “shhhhh, yeah!” kirsten eyes became bigger. “Okay, Awieeeeeeee!” Fiona teased

 Kirsten told Nikka that Fiona cannot go because Fiona just realize that her friends are coming. Kirsten brought his Harley Davidson Motorcycle and went somewhere down the road sightseeing but as soon as the motorcycle stop at the beach. Nikka expected that there were a lot of people partying with the disco lights on and the music on but instead, she saw a lot of candles that are in heart shape and a bunch of roses above the table. She was confused why she is there and what are those, and then she turn around and she saw a man who’s kneeling in front of her and watching her.

  “ What are you doing, stand up. What are we doing here?” nikka asked.

  “Why am I here? What is this Kirsten?” she continued

 Kirsten hands are shaking, preparing for the words that he want to say.

 “I know that you’re in shock right now”. (chuckles) he said.

  “But… but…” he stuttered

 “ But, what?!” Nikka say

  “ But… I LIKE YOU VERY MUCH NIKKA… just as you are. I don’t know of all people in this world my heart only beats for you, you’re the only person that gives light to me, you’re the person that my heart wants to and I cannot control it, I just love you for no reason” he sweetly say.

 “Kirsten, it’s not a joke please be serious!” she say

 “I LOVE YOU NIKKA” he say

 Nikka was stun of what Kirsten said to her, so he slowly stand up and level his face to Nikka and sweetly kiss her on the lips. He thought that Nikka would restrain from kissing at him but instead, Nikka kiss back passionately.

 After six years, Nikka and Kirsten are talking and laughing at the couch when he suddenly making weird faces and holding to his stomach.”What happen, are you okay babe? nikka asked. He leans over then throws up . She quickly get up and help him. The next day kirsten notice that he has a lot of rashes and bruises so he decided to go for check up alone. He is on ongoing blood test until the final results came out.

“What happened to me, doc?” kirsten asked

 “Why did I suddenly puke yesterday and this morning I have a lot of rashes and bruises?” he continued

 The doctors expressionless face, face him and calmly say “ I’m sorry Mr. Ford, but you have a leukemia.”

 “What! a LEUKEMIA?” his dazed face replied.

 Kirsten put his hand in his face and groans. He run as fast as he can and later did he realize that his in the rooftop shouting and screaming.

 “No, this is not true… tell me it’s not true… of all people why me? I did not do anything wrong but why? I have lots of plans for my future family, for nikka and for my sister” he said while crying. HOW CAN I DO ALL OF THAT IF I’M DEAD? HUH! HOW?” he said while kneeling looking at the sky

Kirsten is still thinking about his condition as he walk down the stairs, he realize that Nikka and Fiona shouldn’t know about this because he doesn’t want to repeat what happened to his parents years ago.

 A 12 years old Kirsten heard his mom and dad talking. What he heard had shocked him. When his dad said “ If you’re going to die darling, I will too” Kristopher said

“No, you won’t how about our children” Faustina replied

“ I know but I just love you so much and I cannot lose you” Kristopher replied

One month after his mom was buried, As Kirsten walk through the hall way of their corridors he notice that the door of his father’s room was a bit open and then he open it widely, he saw his father laying on the floor. Then he check his pulse but it’s not working anymore.

Kirsten came home still thinking “ I’m not going to tell Fiona not even Nikka, I’m afraid that if they know, they will also kill themselves because of love for me, so maybe I’m breaking up with nikka for it will not that hard for us.” he said it through his mind. And suddenly his phone rings

 “Hello” he said

 . “Hi, babe where have you been? I’ve been calling you a lot of times!” Nikka answer.

  “ I’m sorry but I sleep the whole day” he said. “ Is your tummy alright?” she asked.

 “I’m sorry Nikka but I’m breaking up with you” he softly said.

  “WHAT? Why do you suddenly think and say that? How come…” Nikka replied.

  “ I’m sorry Nikka but I don’t love you anymore and I want to end this stupid relationship” he said.

  “STUPID!? After all we’ve been through its just stupid for you, tsk.” she replied angrily

 “I’m sorry “ he said and ended the call

 After 1 year Kirsten’s hair are starting to fall down and his nose are frequently bleeding, he is really pale. He currently living in his condo where he is all alone. As he tried to phone his close friend Rico but he can’t because of his weak strength, the door open surprisingly and he saw the face that he’d been yearning for, the face that he misses so much, that he wanted to kiss and hug for a long time. “Kirsten” Nikka said and run towards kirsten and hug him tightly while crying.

“ Why didn’t you tell me about your condition?” Nikka asked.

 Kirsten pushes Nikka away and said “ Why are you here?, How did you find me?, Who told you to come here?, I don’t need you here! Can’t you understand that I don’t love you anymore! Are you dumb?”

  “Did you know that your sister help me to find ways just to find you? We’re worried and she told me that she will find way to find you so she thought that Rico is the answer your best friend, who knows where you are and thank God Rico told Fiona where you are!” Nikka said.

 “What’s the used of you being here? I’m dying soon!” he said.

 “NO, I know that you know that you can do it! Can’t you believe on yourself? You can fight this thing” Nikka replied.

 “I always believe in you, I always do, I just don’t believe in myself and I’m afraid that if I won’t tell you my situation and when my time comes it will be hard for you to forget me and I know you will get hurt badly” he said.

 “This is not just your battle, it is also ours. If you die without even trying it just feels like you don’t give importance to our sacrifices and feelings for you, I thought you love us, why can’t you fight for us? You’re not alone, we’re here and we will fight this together.” after Nikka saying those words, she hug him tightly and tears starts to fall down.

The sonnet 116 by shakespeare means that there is no reason for two people who are inlove should not be together, no one should dare to stand on ther way or be a hindrance. True love can conquer all, meaning even if there’s a trial or problem the two people who are inlove can fix and survive the trials together. Shakespeare is trying to say that if love changes or fades therefore its not a true love even if someone is trying to destroy the lovers it will not change the love that they had. Love does not stope just because something is change or altered, even if strong storm comes love will continue. But we all know the no matter how we try to last it Death will certainly come to us but it doesn’t stop the love that the lovers had. It may kill the partner or the lover, but the love itself is unconditional.

I don’t have a lover but i can relate this to my family even if there’s a lot of trials that we’ve been through i can say that the love that we had is truly a true love despite of the problems that we are facing. We face it with holding hands and sturdy like a rock that no ones surrender.

I can feel the emptiness
