This was the gay bar i went to as a kid. I must have been 15 or 16 with a bad fake ID The bouncer didn’t care as long as we showed something. It was just across the boarder of NY state, North Salem. Off a dark back road, in the middle of nowhere, it had a fence around it, hidden. I remember leaving and worrying if anyone was watching and waiting to beat us up. It was the very early 80s.

I had so much fun here. Nubile and popular with the clientele that ment lots of free drinks. We went here often. @whittleisms and @deighna. I didn’t drive, Deighna had a car so she would drive us. It wasn’t much more than a shack of a building. Exposed beams and very raw. A square open central dance floor, a bar as you entered, pool tables on the far side. On the bar was a shelved plexiglass display on the bar of poppers for sale. Rush, Liquid Gold, Locker Room… $5 each. There was a back patio with a few sticky picnic tables. The bathroom was basically a small fluorescent lit sex closet. It was a place to dance and sweat and dance and to feel safe. Some really great memories here. There were probably hundreds of similar small town gay bars like this around the country but this one was ours.
