She knew she shouldn't have been there. If anything, Pippa should have dragged her ass home. But when a few friends wanted to go out, she figured it'd be better to keep up appearances in case anyone got too suspicious before she was ready to admit anything. Hell, she was hardly admitting it to herself.
Though when she had offered to be the designated driver under the guise of getting over a migraine, what she didn't expect was for those friends to scatter across the pub like confetti and leaving her alone at the bar. So, when the guy next to her started talking, Pip welcomed the conversation. Well, until she actually started listening to it. "That sentence was a fucking walk, my guy," she said with a laugh, taking a sip of her lemonade.
"But, I mean, I guess there'd be worse things to spend your money on, right? Pac Man is pretty harmless in the long run." The woman laughed at the nonchalant nature of her new 'friend'. "Hey, you got me beat. I worked, and then got roped into being the DD for my idiot friends. I'd much rather have a whole ass arcade machine waiting for me at home."
"Big oof," he said laughing at the mention of being DD, "At least you're taking one for the team." Chance said with a shrug, "And your friends will get home safely too so I mean, sounds to me like you're a great friend." He for one didn't like being DD, it always ended up with him having to take care of one drunk friend who drank one too many. But if needed, he would swallow his pride and do the driving. "Surprised you guys didn't just Uber it and you can have a few drinks as well."
