“So the witch seat is open? I mean.. I’d really love to help. Its unbelievable though, that they just vanished like that. Blackmail? Why would he need to do that? Is he not qualified?” She could not help but ask, both about the seat and about this cocky sounding master. The need to step up for the city and help was certainly there, but so was the worry that he shouldn’t be doing all this alone. And that others would take advantage of him and make him a target. If she were to loose him.. the thought was too heavily filled with emotions for her to even contemplate it for more than a few seconds at a time. If she allowed it to, it would easily paralyze and overwhelm her. And naturally living in fear was no way to live, but during certain moments it was incredibly challenging for her to avoid it. “But what if you are taken from me?” Her arms went around his neck, tightening as she held on. It was still a marvel to her that he had managed to continue living while they were apart. She had held onto the belief that he was alive, out there somewhere. But he had seen her disappear into the water with Willow, thinking they were both gone forever. If he were to die, Eliza didn’t know if she could or should push to keep herself alive. Of course, as a mother that was a terribly selfish thought, but without Chance, after everything, she couldn’t imagine she’d be more than a faint shell of what she had used to be. In no shape to be a mom to Willow in the slightest. This time her smile faltered, yet she still tried to join him in holding onto the lighter part of the conversation. “No I was thinking you look like that guy in Teen Wolf, mid shift. Which is still kind of cute. You’re not a boy? Damn, you had me fooled.” Eliza teased, chuckling softly and enjoying his kiss.
“It does sound somewhat reasonable for them to have gone underground, if only to escape the drama.” Dragons.. who would have thought? Not her that was for sure. When he raised the mug she nodded, confirming that she wouldn’t mind a cup. “That does not leave us with a promising outlook. Maybe the magical barrier should be modified. If dragons are a real threat we should consider keeping them out instead of taking them in when all they might want is our destruction.” The smell of coffee had her perk up a little. The day was young, yet it had been demanding enough to warrant some easy and quick energy infusion. As her eyes met with Chance’s Eliza had to bite back her growing concern. “So you think they sent in a slave as an infiltrator first? That is certainly calculated and makes it all seem well thought out. Seems so..”
“Well we had a witch who stepped in, though honestly I wouldn’t mind seeing your pretty face more often.” Which he saw a lot of daily, but Chance couldn’t stop staring at the woman he loved. “He’s a guy who saw an opportunity and took it. How long he will last I’m not sure.” Chance looked at Eliza and brushed her hair from her face. It was a valid fear and one they both shared. After centuries of being lost to each other, finally finding each other, but always living with that possibility. “I won’t be. I will make sure of that. No matter what I will stay by your side. I will fight anyone who tries to tear us apart.” In this city no man, woman, or species would ever lay a finger on them. And he knew the rest of the council would back him if something did ever happen. She was his mate, his love, and god sometimes he wished he could always be by her side to protect her. “Teen wolf? That dumb show with the goofy looking kid that has spiked hair? Oh I am offended! I should give you a piece of my mind.” He growled playfully as he pulled her in, lightly patting her butt.
“We will need to modify the barrier. I’m thinking of talking to the council and creating enchanted pieces for each master and mistress. Ones that work only for that person so it can not be handed to another and work. It’ll allow them in and out of the barrier but no one else. Though it is a lot. And Itwould take great magic. Though I am sure we can find wonderful witches like you to help if we decide that.” He shook his head and gave a small sigh. “Well, doing more reading, that red leather cover by you, shows gargoyles were put in place here for the day dragons would arrive. I think those are the small piles of rubble being found in random places. I think both species balance each other out. So long as they are both in this city, it is neutral. At least I hope.”
He poured them both a cup and made her the she liked. Stirring it up he walked back over to hand her the mug, kissing the side of her head. A hand around her shoulders to hold her, as the warm coffee was brought to his lips, eyes scanning the messy desk. “I think you’re right. I think maybe someone higher came in with that slave today. The town was hit too perfectly. It wasn’t random and it wasn’t rebels. So we can only assume it was a dragon with a grudge of some sorts.”
