Rafael Nadal named top athlete of decade

Rafael Nadal beat Lionel Messi to be voted the athlete of the decade in a poll run by Spanish daily newspaper Marca.

Marca readers voted in huge numbers – with almost 160,000 votes being counted – and Rafa took 62 percent of the vote to Messi’s 38 percent.

Injury Update: Marcos Rojo & Zlatan Ibrahimović | April 22, 2017 - Rojo and Zlatan are both set for lengthy spells on the sidelines after rupturing cruciate ligaments in United’s Europa league win over Anderlecht.

Marcos Rojo was taken off on a stretcher in the first half of Thursday’s Europa League extra-time win over Anderlecht and, while the club are yet to confirm the extent of the problem. - According to multiple UK newspapers Marcos Rojo will miss the rest of the season due to a ruptured cruciate ligament in his left knee. - On Friday, the Argentina international was confirmed to have torn his ACL and will need surgery that could keep him out until at least September, the reports say.

Zlatan Ibrahimović will also be assessed after landing awkwardly on his knee at the end of normal time. ESPN FC claims Zlatan has suffered serious ligament damage in his right knee and will likely be sidelined until at least January 2018.

The club has yet to release any official prognosis & timetable for each player to return or being their rehabilitation process of these injuries. Manager José Mourinho has said a few things on the matter. In the post match press conference & preview ahead of Sunday’s trip to Burnley.
