The Chaemera at Large

So finally decided to just make a dedicated blog for my FFXIV stuff. Still getting it set up, and currently all the tag-links and such point here still, but it'll get fixed.

Now that we know (within a reasonable doubt) that the Baalzephon in Amdapor are just voidsent, this casts the White Magestones into a different light than what I had originally theorized.

Namely, now it appears the stones are little more than power-sources created by the Amdapori White Mages, though they may still act as filtration units for the surrounding aetherscape. That being the case, I feel we need to examine the surroundings we encounter those Magestones within.

Namely, the well. We see pillars rising from the depths, and the mystical platform upon which Diabolos manifests. The designs of the pillars shows a marked resemblance to the Magestones themselves. Thusly, I am led to wonder what they are coming up from. Are they and the Magestones merely acting as conduits? If so, what is the power source lying down in the depths?

Trade is a totally serious guild.

Tick, tick, tick, tick...

There, the device was set. Clockwork and crystal fashioned to the most exacting specifications, with tolerances of only a hair’s breadth. The little arcanist checked the arrangement of its components against her notes one last time, then pulled the safety pins and set the primary arm in motion, stepping carefully back behind a mark chalked onto the floor.

Tick, tick, tick, tick...

A small, wind-up clock sat on the table next to the device, calmly measuring out the time. Also on the table was a lit candle, as well as a shard of water-aspected crystal held above a dish by a rude framework of wire. Its measured drip was just off-sync enough with the ticking of the clock to be noticeable.

A small mouse groomed itself within a small cage.

Tick, tick, tick, tick, PING!

The moving crystal on the device touched another crystal, and there was a bell-like tone.

The clock had stopped. A drop of water hung suspended in the air.

...five, four, three, two...
