this also means they Don’t think the other is feeling weighed down by the burdens of superheroism, that when they look into each other’s eyes, they see a beacon of light, something to escape in. they think they’re with someone who has nothing to do with any of these superhero struggles. but none of it is true at all. they’re BOTH burdened by their heroic responsibilities, and they both need saving, and they’re both hurting so much in ways they can’t speak a word of. meaning they can’t comfort each other the way they need to and could and I think that is an impending tragedy in and of itself

he’s starting to develop feelings for marinette BUT he’s still in love with ladybug. he’s starting to question if any of it is really worth it tho bc being a superhero is so painful and hard. and then boom. evil him and evil ladybug are in love. from the start ladybug has talked day and night about how they can’t be together because they’re superheroes with secret identities. but THESE selfish bad versions of them ARE because they aren’t GOOD like them. this sends him the message that he is selfish and bad for loving her and wanting to be with her. then boom. crazy dream about marrying her and having babies together and living happily ever after. WANTING this nearly got THEM killed and after talking to ladybug about it after her fumbling because she was scared and getting told ‘it must just be a trick from monarch’ he realizes that this is JUST HIS desire, and it is DANGEROUS, and he will always be ALONE in his love for her, but more importantly being with her would be SELFISH of him. so he finally detaches thinking that this is the Good Correct thing to do because he’s been falling short all this time + it makes him overcorrect so hard that when ladybug started flirting with him he either didn’t realize or thought it was another ‘test’

HANG ON… i don’t think this is the end actually. so here’s the rest of the process. so ur adrien. and u love marinette. which you think is the right thing to do. it FEELS right. it feels good too!! he jumps onto it like they’re a smooth sailing ship en route to paradise. he’s so sure that he and marinette are forever. he loves her so much it’s as if his ill-fated, ill-advised, dangerous love for ladybug never existed. he says things like ‘you only fall in love once and that’s it!’ like he never truly loved ladybug (untrue) and that he will never ever love anyone but marinette. like she CURED him. but what happens when his relationship with marinette, which he doesn’t think he DESERVES, crumbles at his feet? what if she tells him they can’t be together anymore, shouldn’t be together. what will he realize then? when he finds out he can never be cured. that ladybug is as inevitable to him as the sun rising at daybreak and setting at nightfall. what can he do about it?

like it just really is not that deep guys 😭😭😭 the way tv works esp w couples in messy situations is that they tend to break em up and get them back together again because its um. entertaining…? not to mention love square is in a completely unique situation where their main love rivals are EACH OTHERS ALTER EGOS which means ultimately we all Like The Same Couple. its just funny to see them get back together in funnier and more insane ways ❤️ u can dislike this as a story direction but other people finding it fun is not a crime
