     how many times would he have to deal with this sort of situation? first with lukas and now with nick – it was like there was a line dividing the deliverance into two sides and clive was having a hard enough time trying to manage one army, let alone one splitting into factions against one another. 

     he rubs his palm against his forehead, hair mussed from the stress starting to eat away at his mood today ( just a drop in the bucket of the stress from the rest of the week, but it was still wearing on him. )

          “ yes, it is about that – and yes, i will be speaking to them about it, because such behavior is unbecoming of the knights of zofia. regardless of that, we’re in too precarious a situation to be fighting amongst ourselves. our energy should be directed at the enemy, not at one another.

          i’m not saying you need to apologize to anyone, least of all me, but i just want it made clear that we needn’t be fighting amongst ourselves when we’re already outnumbered against desaix’s men. ”

   Nick makes his entrance when Clive speaks up, eyes losing just a bit of their fire at the promise that he’s not the only one getting reprimanded for the scuffle. Still, he’s not entirely mollified-- If he’d heard right, another one of the army’s members had gotten into a tiff of their own not too long ago over the exact same thing. You’d think Clive would have figured out how to control these outbreaks by now, but nooo--- Here we are again, others having to pick up his slack and stand up for those who can’t defend themselves in his place.

   ( This sort of thing would never happen in Rigel. )

   ... He feels a little sorry for the guy, granted. He’s probably only just keeping it together-- Nick hadn’t been part of the Deliverance when it happened, but the man’s fiancee had been taken hostage and managing a horde of rebels can’t exactly be easy when a bunch of them weren’t born with silver spoons in their mouths like their founders. From what the mercenary of the wind could tell, things had only gone downhill since the legendary Mathilda’s disappearance. 

   But injustice is injustice no matter the situation, and one can’t just turn a blind eye with the weak excuse of needing to stay ‘unified’. The weak’s anger would grow and grow until eventually it boiled over and fractured the Deliverance even further. The strong would retaliate, and the group would implode on itself before they even caught a glimpse of Zofia Castle.  Could Clive not see that?

“Alright, alright. I’m here.” 

   You’d think the commander of the Deliverance would be treated with just a little more respect-- And normally, he would be! Instead, Clive’s met with the emerald eyed mercenary leaning languidly against the entrance to the war room’s doorway with folded arms. Oh, he knows he’s probably in big trouble for picking fights amongst the ranks, but hey-- No one, no matter where they’re from or their walk of life, is going to bully and harass their fellow soldiers in front of him if Nick has anything to say about it!
