If someone began rewriting a longfic before it was complete (82k, 15/40 chapters) would you prefer that they:
Mark the original as abandoned and link to the new
Still attempt to finish the original
Replace the original, even if the pacing is different
Delete the original
Other (elaborate in tags/replies)
Further info:
The reworked version would have around half the chapters of the original, with much better pacing.
The old version started in 2019 and has not been updated since 2022.
This author sincerely struggles with leaving fics unfinished with no plan to return lol.

i'm writing a long fic for the upcoming rarepairstuck event and it is kicking my asssssss. started way in advance so i'd have no excuse and then found every one in the book— i'm drafting chapter 4/5 and the event starts on friday. i'll have to write a chapter a day and then edit everything day of upload to have any hope of staying on track here
i'm locking in as hard as i can (not doing very well) (still drafting chapter 4/5) (it's 2am on friday morning already) (if anyone can volunteer as a very speedy beta it would be so appreciated i definitely am not gonna catch every mistake when i start editing this)
okay so definitely part of the reason it was kicking my ass so bad is that i was not estimating my word counts correctly. so i was doing way more work than i thought then going wow how have i done so little
