I suppose the New Year wouldn’t be a new year without having some resolutions. It’s a well-known fact that resolutions tend to be hopeful dreams and misleading stars of motivations. If this is so, then it would suit me just fine. Let the dreamer dwell in his dreams, for that is where he is happiest.

For 2016, in hopes that she will be kind:

1.       Write everyday

2.       Create art

3.       Exercise everyday

4.       Make innovation and change

5.       Grow

2015 gave me a lot of things, all of which I gladly accepted. It gave me my 21st birthday, which for some is a big milestone. 21 signals one’s coming of age, when a boy turns to a man, when the learned learns to be wise, when life as we know it truly starts. The year gave me memories, of which I shared with my good friends. We watched each other grow a year older, but none the wiser, sharing time as if it were marshmallows being passed around a bonfire. And it felt exactly like that, a series of moment illuminated by laughter, the tell-tale sign of belonging. Perhaps the most significant thing the year gave me was a second chance. That, I can say for sure, is something I truly am thankful for.

If there was a right moment to feel nostalgic, I suppose tonight would be a good time for it, although I can’t say I feel it without a hint of melancholy. With all the joy I got out of 2015, it might feel strange to some if I say that this year made me sad. I think that when people say goodbye, their hearts yearn to cry out, but refuses to for the sake of the moment. People say ‘bon voyage’ or ‘sayonara’ with smiles on their faces, and the reason for this is to support their friends’ decision to follow a different path. If we think about it, it would be an injustice to these friends if we cry and stop them from doing what they seem right, subjecting them to guilt that isn’t theirs to carry. It’s not until later, perhaps a month later, that you feel heavy, acheing with the realization that things will never be the same.

And now I say cheers. Here’s a glass to 2015, that we will never have another year like it, yet still call onto it whenever we need it. 

So after almost two years of being apart, G & I are finally together again! We told each other that we’d try to document our days together as much as we can using a GoPro, but to be honest we’re still kinda noobs at using it! I have yet to explore all the functions of the GoPro and I have got to learn how to stop being so shaky when i hold it.. But here are some of the photos we took together over the past few days.

Here’s the food we had at Mexicali! It was pretty pricey.. but hey, the food was worth it though! I still prefer Silantro’s Nachos. I still have to take G there. :)

We’ve always had a thing for Christmas. I can’t wait to see the lights show so I can take photos and videos of the Lights Show. 31 days before Christmas! 

How I see stories, stories as shapes (Post Wind-Up Bird Chronicle, by Haruki Murakami)

Stories usually follow a line. They start somewhere and gradually progress towards an ending. When you think about it, stories like these are nice, much like a painting that doesn’t require you to strain your imagination in its interpretation. Their simplicity makes them beautiful.

Other stories are circles. They start somewhere and take you around a circuit, ultimately bringing you back. Stories like these have a distinct elegance. They give you an experience close to a summer holiday trip, taking you to far off places, but eventually finding your way back home.

And then you get stories like Wind-Up Bird that has no real direction other than that which goes inside towards one’s mind. The plot has an alter-ego that takes the name of chance, persons that stretch to more than one character, and a reality that plays with unreality.

You know those times when out of nowhere you get a realisation about something random? I had one of them yesterday. As I was walking back home, I felt something in my jacket pocket, a cotton bundle. So what did I do? I did what most rebels my age would do, I threw it on the street. 

Then that got me thinking... where would this cotton bundle end up? It could get blown away by the wind, or taken down the sewers by the rainwater. The thought of it makes me happy. This cotton bundle is actually this little traveler, going to places that I probably won’t ever get to see. 

I wouldn’t mind getting a letter from this cotton bundle, say 5 years from now. We could be pen pals, sharing stories of what we’ve done all that time. I can tell him where I traveled. Then it would most likely tell me a much more grand and epic story, maybe about navigating through the Sydney culverts, or ending up in a garbage dump and being shipped off to the pacific. 

Well... I sure wish I do hear from you again, little cotton bundle. Safe travels.

Hello to our non-existent readers! I know i know. Sorry for my short hiatus! I haven’t posted in awhile. I’ve recently started (and finished) watching Friends and I’ve been hooked for the past 3 weeks. Yes, that’s right. I managed to watch 10 years worth of tv into just 3 weeks. HEY. I promise i have a life. :D 

But now i’m sad. :( I wish I took it slowly though. It’s probably my favourite sitcom now of all time! I can see why millions of people loved it so much. The humour is charmingly witty, and the characters are so relatable and weird! It easily beats HIMYM for sure. (Did i just say that??) I also have a knack for memoriZZZZZZZing lines from movies and shows that I like, so i’m gonna keep re-watching Friends till I can recite the lines alongside the characters! 

Aside from that, life has been okay. The only thing i’m looking forward to these days is the weekend since school has been so demanding lately. I spend most of my days in my room and in school. Been very antisocial lately, only seeing 2 or 3 people every now and then. But that’s okay. I prefer it this way really. Oh, and i’m also looking forward to seeing someone very soon. :) That’s one of the things that’s keeping me going lately. 

So I have a slight obsession with cats...

I find them so interesting! In a lot of ways, cats possess the qualities that I aim to have. They’re independent, elegant, observant, and always seem to be content with the simplest of things. Give a cat a sardine and it will love you forever. Give me a sardine and I’ll probably demand bacon.

I find a distinct pleasure in sniffing my own finger. Just a moment ago, I had the urge to scratch my watermelon buns, the ones on my behind if that seems a bit vague. And straight away, almost by instinct, I sniffed my finger. 

I thought this was interesting. My finger didn’t particularly smell nicely. In fact, it smelled kind of peculiar, as you would expect. It was like a perfume concoction made by ethers dug from people’s insecurities, things that we don’t want other people to see, or in this case smell. The fact that smelling my own finger doesn’t bother me at all tells me that my smelliness isn’t as bad as I thought it would be. Now I think I actually smell good. Maybe I shouldn’t think that...

I like the number 8. 8 is a sideways infinity sign. And infinity is forever.

Happy 9th to us C! It’s only fitting that the day we started again was on the 8th. 8 is infinity, infinity is forever, and we’re forever. I love you :)

I see the universe as this vast set of gears and cogs. When you think about it, it’s all clockwork. Gravity makes the Earth revolves on an elliptical orbit around the sun. The same goes with Mars, Jupiter, and the rest of the solar system. The whole solar system follows its own circuit around the Milky Way. Then it keeps going. The Milky Way travels like an outward going loop across the cosmos, slowly drifting apart from everything else. It makes you think, everything revolves around something. The universe becomes like a vinyl being played on a record player, just endlessly on a cosmic merry-go-round. 

People are somewhat like clockwork too. We revolve around particular things that give meaning to our selves. Some choose to live for their dreams, succeeding in their careers and changing the world for instance. Some choose to live for their family, ensuring happiness for their loved ones, building their homes with bricks of love. Others choose to live simply, just experiencing the gifts and endless possibilities of living. 

For C & I, we decided that we’ll get a tattoo of the thing that makes us tick, Pluto and Ceres.

When we think of the solar system, we immediately think of the sun and the planets. We tend to disregard the billions of other things that come in between such as asteroids, comets, moons. In the same way, dwarf planets don’t usually get much attention either. I suppose they would be similar to people like C & I, heroes of an epic whose story goes unnoticed, read by no one.

To C, you are that thing that I revolve around. Even if we escape to worlds other than our own, be it the imaginary ones or places only we know, we’re real. Like Pluto and Ceres, we’re wanderers of the cosmos, always together exploring the endless reaches of space. You are my gravity.

So the deal was to walk him down to his kindergarten for an hour long French class. It takes a helluva long time to get there, so walking back home to burn some time wasn’t really an option. I had the choice of sitting down somewhere and read a book, or walk around. Funnily enough, I chose the path less traveled (by me) and chose to explore. Somewhere along the way, I saw a sign saying “$1 Dollar Books Inside”, so what do I do? What any reasonable person would of course... Find this blessed bookshop!

The only right way I can describe it is being much like a diamond in the rough. The bookshop itself was as simple as anything can be. Simple gray painting, simple smell of gathering dust, and perhaps the best thing about it, the lack of humans. Pretty much heaven right? It gets better. As you walk in, you feel as if you’re walking into a maze rather than a bookshop. All around you are shelves that reach as high as the ceiling, reminiscent of skyscrapers resided by books, inviting you to lose yourself amidst the names of the authors past. 

I did talk to the owner, and the conversation we had left much to be desired. I really do suck at small talk. The lady was nice, telling me stories of her travels, from Brazil to Japan. I learned she has two kids, and has a knack for sneaking the word ‘facade’ in every other sentence. Meanwhile, all I can really muster are ahh-s and I see-s. A skill I evidently mastered.

Regrettably, I did forget to ask her name. I suppose that’s one thing I should’ve learned... I’ll make it a point to do that next time.

People who know me can tell you that I don’t belong in the kitchen. I’m hopeless at cooking! I’m more of an eater than a chef. As far as my culinary skills go, the only dish I can confidently cook are eggs (though I must say I make AMAZING eggs). So I wouldn’t blame you if you don’t believe that i cooked these nice looking pancakes. But guess what... YOU BETTER BELIEVE IT. Because I did cook these, and tell you what, these aren’t just ordinary pancakes. They’re pancakes filled with Nutella! And they’re amazing! And now I bet you’re jealous! 

So this post is proof that that nothing is impossible. This is my version of your typical inspirational quote. “The sky isn’t your limit, your face is your limit”. You can find this in my autobiography. Watch out for that.

Jokes aside, I will now leave you to drool. Feast your eyes on my breakfast for today...

I just made coffee. 

I don’t know why I did.. I wasn’t planning on staying up tonight. But here I am, 10 minutes to midnight, with a cup of HOT hot hot coffee in my hand, wrapped in a thick blanket. How cliche lol. I should be in a movie right now. Btw this isn’t important, but I absolutely can’t stand hot drinks. I always always burn myself! So I always have to wait for it to be warm before I can drink it. Hassle right? Welcome to the clumsy world. Population: me

Spotify’s on and I feel really chill. :) Way better than earlier. I feel like smoking a cigarette but I won’t, because I know I should stop and it makes us both feel like crap. While G’s in dreamland dreaming of zombies, or possibly being chased by cops, or cats, I will write. If it isn’t obvious, I started this with zero idea of what to talk about exactly. But there’s also a beauty in the randomness of things, right? Pancakes. Cats. Panda. Rainbow Unicorn Attack.

Haha seriously though. Two hours ago I was talking to G like always. I’ve been feeling down lately and whenever I feel this way his advice to me is always the same:Remember the good things.  

See, this is my dilemma and i’m sure i’m not the only one who thinks this way. When I feel like shit, my thoughts turn into shit. My actions turn to shit, what I say turns into shit,  so I basically turn into one giant piece of shit. If I try to think of the good things during this sad shitty time, I wouldn’t be able to think of one thing that can equate, or even surpass the shittiness that I feel. (Drinking game: take a shot whenever i say shit)

Update: 12:09 am and i’m finally drinking my coffee! 

I think in my next post i’ll be making a good things list. A reminder for future shitty me that things are good. That I should be thankful for so many things that other people take for granted, because people suck. Like for example rn, i’m thankful that I have coffee breath and that my room smells like coffee because I love coffee, and John Mayer is playing and i’m able to write this post. Things will never be as bad as you think as long as you still have the good things. 

So thank you, for being my support system. For being there when I need you. Know that i’m thinking about you like always. This is for you. The best thing.
