Ohh, I am not good at describing characters, but a have to try. I’m not native English speaker, so I apologize for mistakes.

 So, she spent part of her childhood in the North of Tedas - in Tevinter. Specifically in the Minrathous alienage, and when the situation with slavery in Tevinter began to worsen, then her parents, fearing for the fate of her daughter, escaped from Tevinter to Antiva or somewhere to the East. BUT during the flight, mom and dad were killed by the Templars, and girl was lost in the woods, where she was founded by an elf-hunter from the Lavellan clan, in which she grew up.

And although Tevinter was not associated with the warmest feelings, it can not be said that she did not like this country. She wanted the Empire to develop in a different direction. She wanted to go back there and not be afraid. 

She is not andrastian, she believes in the Elven Gods. But nevertheless she will not belittle a person because of another belief. If people of Thedas needs the Herald of Andraste, then she is ready to play this role. 

She herself is good-natured. Not stupid. Love to learning. Very distrustful, trying to stay apart. The character is calm. To force her to shout at someone, you need to make great efforts. She speaks quietly, calmly and measuredly. Contact with people is given to her quite hard just because she is an introvert. During the dialogue she behaves extremely diplomatically, in conflicts she ignores any negativity in her address. But sharp at the tongue when needed. Not stubborn, does not go ahead, but can be cunning, blackmailing and grafting, if it is necessary. So if you imagine her as an advisor, she might be in the place of Josephine. So she knows how to adapt. But sometimes she might be really naive and sentimentally. 

Role of the Inquisitor is an obstacle for her, but this is something that she HAVE TO do. For her this is not a joy or a way of self-expression, but a responsibility and a duty that can not be avoided.
