No Criminal Charges In Kendrick Johnson’s Death

There will be no criminal charges in the death of a Valdosta teen found dead in a rolled up gym mat.

After three years of multiple unresolved questions in the death Kendrick Johnson, a 17-year-old Black boy from Georgia, the Department of Justice announced on June 20 that no criminal charges will be filed in the case.

In January of 2013, Johnson’s body was found inside a rolled up gym mat at Lowndes High School in Valdosta, Georgia. Investigators concluded Johnson fell head first into an gym mat while trying to retrieve his shoe, he got trapped and eventually suffocated.

The department of justice began its investigation in October 2013 after the community questioned what happened and called Johnson’s death suspicious.

The worst part of this all is that DOJ never said Kendrick was not killed. They only stated there was not enough evidence to press any charges. Things just don’t add up in Johnson’s death. There is no way he couldn’t find his way out of the gym mat unless someone “helped” him.

Pass it on because Kendrick, his family and all of us deserve JUSTICE!
