But that wasn’t even the worst of it all.Apparently I “rejected” him cause he is “black” when i’m black myself…

We all have experienced failure in our life: Be it an exam we’ve failed or a break up with somebody we (used to) love. And we all know how devastated you can feel when things don’t turn out how you want them to be. It hurts, you’re angry at yourself and your starting to doubt your abilities. 

Girl/Boy, I know how you’re feeling: You just want to be a sad burrito in your bed, watching Netflix all day and eating a huge cup of ice cream. It’s okay to feel this way but not forever. “Forget yesterday, it has already forgotten you.”

1) First, let it all out. Cry, scream, dance. Do whatever helps you to let off steam. Go for a run. Just let the first wave of anger get out of your body.

2) If you’ve calmed down take a note book. Write your feelings down. Draw. Express yourself. Cut out text passages from magazines. This step might not be something for everybody but as I can tell from my personal experience it helped me. 

3) Sports, sports and sports. People always told be about this “endorphin rush” you’re getting during running. I could not believe them since I started to blow like a grampus after 15 minutes. Then something changed: Something didn’t turn out as I wanted it to be, I was hurt and angry & I started to run at least 2-3 times a week. After 2 weeks I finally felt the magic: Minute 35 - I CAN DO THIS. It’s like an emotional booster, it strengthens your body as well as your mind. Let sport be your remedy. 

4) Recollect yourself: What do you want from your life? Why did you fail? What can you learn from it? Set goals, fight your inner demon and don’t be afraid to try out new things: Fear can destroy so many dreams. 

5) Talk to somebody. I have to admit I’m more the person that likes to keep her problems to herself but talking may help you to see your problem from a new point of view. Your listener will talk about her/his own experience and will help you to move on.

6) Life goes on. Okay you didn’t pass this exam, alright. Well, he didn’t love you but you still do. Accept it. You have to. Just because bad things happen in our life, we can’t stop living our life. Keep your routines, even if it seems impossible, even if it hurts. Meet friends, go to sport courses, do your daily routine. It’s okay to take some time for yourself, to be alone, but don’t lock yourself up in your room forever.

7) Get happy. Ignore the others. Happiness is the best revenge for your enemies.

8) Every wound needs time to heal. You have to accept it. Some may deal with it faster than others do, it’s an individual thing. 

There will be good days and bad ones, but never give up. Focus on your future. Let your dreams be your achieved goals. Don’t be broken. Stay up, walk straight and fight.
