This comment is an apology on behalf of Tumblr’s. It is made in response to the endless appeals they create with imposed labels like Mature Content? This is done via the employment of their unfunctional AI screening process. Sadly this is fundamentally flawed. It is cannot differentiate between creativity, art, aesthetic intent, thematic concepts or the use of visual illusion in image making. Content and compositions that may stimulate the viewer’s thinking. Speak to you, inspire you. The reason for these endeavours is very simple. These are all inherently human understandings and thought precesses. Something that a bot cannot undertake. So stop it!
One very critical mistake made by this programming is the focus on essentially nudity to broadly censor? FURTHER I have regularly had images of famous paintings,prints,drawings etc challenged simply because of AI SCREENING. This exposes the absolute stupidity of this process and is in itself highly offensive.
Yet this protocol is steeped in a total lack of consistency (like turning a blind eye)? How does this screening process miss all the seriously obscene photographs (still and moving) on Tumblr? Visual content exploiting and denigrating women, ageist bias(think about that one), toxic themes, hard core porn and selective models used to portray or represent young nubile looking women and worst of all general Al generated fakes abound on Tumblr!
But humble bloggers who mainly collect and collate portfolios are challenged. Their time wasted. Challenged because they essentially like to gather and curate images from those that ALREADY EXIST ON TUMBLR?! Why are they freely available until they are collated together?
So more often or not there is no contextual framework and glaring errors (guesses). There is regularly nothing to see, mistakes?! The frustration that Tumblr generates via this ridiculous and futile process cannot be overstated! It is detrimental to their brand and quite frankly is unfathomable.
