So I finished her.

Volcanic-metallic-mercurial-alchemical fairy: October 2025 by Cecilia Rose Inkol (me of course). She comes with a poem, enclosed below. Watercolor pencils, watercolor paints, pen, a bit of ink and paintmarkers. Another quick painting since I'm finishing my thesis; this piece was done in a few days. To be clear, she is a mercurial fairy, not a robot; part of me was a bit concerned that she might be interpreted as the latter. A lot of my art deals with technological themes, but always magical technology. This one combines themes I've been aesthetically exploring for the past months, tentacled volcanoes, with new alchemical/kabbalistic magical matrix motifs.

From the forge of Vulcan,

The fairy homunculus emerges.

Molten chimera,

The convergence of past and future.

Volcanic, metallic, alchemical

Kabbalistic, alembic, mercurial

Winged crystalline matrices precipitating

Gold and silver keys.

The sun-tentacled Eye of the Volcano

Its magma mantle Athanor

Erupts with metallic lava.

Travel the maze of slithering paths

Unravelling the tentacled mathesis universalis.

To attain gold, one must seek the volcano

Its volcanic ejecta and hydrothermal veins

One’s soul as its crucible,

The tentacled and serpentine limbs of

The alchemical body of the tree of life,

Its unending eruption,

is simultaneously molten construction.

Volcanic Resurrection: Tentacles of Fire.

So this was a quick painting, as all of my recent ones are. I am focussing more right now on transmission of vision rather than realism or color experimentation. I think I might be writing/illustrating an esoteric tome on volcanic magic, as note that this is now my 4th painting in my recent Volcanic Visions series, although one of those paintings, the oil painting, is still unfinished—oil paintings tend to take forever for me to complete. This piece combines themes I’ve already been exploring artistically lately, volcanic magic, lightning, with new themes of tentacles, interdimensional travel, resurrection, and some Egyptian iconography. I composed a poem to accompany this piece:

Volcanic Resurrection: Tentacles of Fire

The volcano portals open between dimensions

I descend unto the volcanic underworld

To learn to fly

I erupt in order to ordain

Cosmic judgment and to maintain equilibrium

My lava is comprised of writhing tentacles

I am the volcanic portal between worlds

As above, so below,

My tentacles spew from the volcanic cauldron

My tentacles are molten lava

My law is lava

My lava is tantra, a molten mantra

My lightning transpierces all dimensions simultaneously

I am Osiris,

I am reborn through each world, resurrected

I have been dismembered,

I forget

In order to remember

Destroyed to be

Put back together

Through death, I attain immortality.

I am Isis, I mourn the death of my love

But it cannot die

I mourn death but celebrate life.

For love always overcomes the power of Set

In every dream and every world

Though it may take aeons to unfurl.

Yet all aeons collide in a single instant

Although I wrote the poem long before the painting, the idea for this painting has been germinating a long time. It very well may turn into a song someday. Inspired by the Chaldean Oracles and Neoplatonism. Did I also mention that I’ve done a bunch of work on the Chaldean Oracles and Neoplatonism in my Phd?

With the binding fire of Eros, Faith, Love, and Truth,

With the fire of the Ideas in Source Craters,

My soul ascends upon the sun’s rays.

I extend my soul perceiving faculty toward the One

Through the flower-flame of mind, separating soul from body.

In concord with celestial harmony,

Receiving the Father’s thoughts, ideas,

Iynges, communicating with me.

Ritual death and rebirth every moment.

Teletarchs, rays of material connectors,

I journey up the spheres and elements.

My soul's flower-flame, strength, and spark

A token with the focus to elevate my soul,

Binding it with the noetic fiery triad, highest god essence.

I harmonize my soul and world soul,

Enabling me direct participation in the whole.

Replenishing my star body, spherical,

Liberated from my particularlity

In my star soul vehicle.

Achieving my spherical body,

Augoeides ochema.

In the luminous spherical vehicle,

I receive visions in divine unity.

I construct my divine body,

Every negative passion and vice expunged.

I practice divine habits, a master of time,

Embodied noesis in the stars’ orbits.

The heavens a shrine for Demiurgic nous,

Stars vehicles of cosmic gods, vehicles for hypercosmic gods.

Regaining my soul’s circularity,

I join the gods.

I heal my primordial wound,

Catalyst Catabasis Incantation

My eyes are volcanoes

What I perceive is eruption

I am volcanic lightning

Stellar explosion

I bring death and renewal

Yet I only destroy to create

My lava, my kiss of death,

My poison, rejuvenates

I destroy false worlds with my magma

Germinating new ones in their wake

With my igneous joy.

My star fire ignites and illuminates

My fire is electric magma

I am stellar volcanic lightning

My tears are the blood of the earth

Lava mermaid, fire elemental fae. Erupting from a volcano (eventually it all comes out). And she is accompanied by her trusty steed, her knight in shining armor, the Scaly-foot gastropod, a.k.a. the volcano snail (it's a metallic snail! With shell comprised of iron, indwelling deep-sea hydrothermal vents). Lol.

Neith: Egyptian creatrix deity and nurse of crocodiles. Mother of crocodilian deity, Sobek. Associated with weaving, arrows and war, she is said to have woven the world into existence. Here she is depicted as a spider--- not an ancient historical form, but in addition to her weaving ways, her name is also rendered as Net, hence why the spidery gestalt seems fitting to me --- launching an arrow strung with thread from her loom. It begins with an inscription that Plutarch (46 – 120 A.D.) recounts to be incised upon the Temple of Neith, in quotations, then leads unto my own poetic flourishes:

“I am all that has been

That is and that will be

No mortal has yet been able

To lift the veil that covers me.”

I am the oldest one,

Nurse of crocodiles

Weaving threads of war

Through conflicting worlds

I brought forth Ra, the sun

I invented shuttle and loom!

I wove the world into being!

I invented weaving!

Sobek is my son

I preside as judge

Over the other deities

I am creatrix!

Die Rosen Kreuzschlüssel Schloss: The Spider Rose Cross CastleThis painting was inspired by playing with imagery inherent in the German language. It’s also intended as a reimagining of the famous esoteric emblem, the rose cross.In German, spider can be translated as : 1. Spinne. 2. Kreuzschlüssel (less common). The second translation literally means, cross-key. I started to imagine the spider as a secret character at the crux or cross of life, at the intersection of all things.  This painting also plays on the similarity between the German words Schlüssel and Schloss. Schloss means castle. It also means lock or enclosure. There is a famous Rosicrucian emblem of a rose in the cross-section of a cross, bees hovering around it, to collect the nectar of the rose. I learned that even in this original depiction of this emblem, there was a presence of a spider, although in the background of the painting. The spider in this original context was a figure of seduction, whose webs lure the querent away from the sanctity of the rose. The querent is thus forced to choose between becoming entangled in alluring webs or spiritual truth, the latter represented by the rose.I wanted to imagine a different kind of spider, a spider whose web did not lead beyond the spiritual path, but whose web was enmeshed within it. Although, as a black widow, the spider I depicted is a figure of death, her web is the web of wyrd, the web of destiny.To me the black widow at the rose crux represents a couple of things. It represents the intersection of both life and death, entwined with the other. It represents both death and destiny. How in mysterious ways, life and death exist intertwined within all things. As forces. As enmeshed with the other. In the way that the unground offers the self-revelation of the divine, in Boehmian theology. The intrinsic double-nature of being on which all life depends. I envisaged a golden castle (as lock or enclosure) and alchemical keys, along with a robot spider double to accompany the black widow on the web of wyrd wherein lies the the rose-cross.

Schloss Kreuzschlüsselspinne

The spider navigates the cross, holds the crossed keys to its castle

The spider is a rose.

The spider blooms.

The black widow eats her mate, imbibes the essen essence.

The spider’s web blooms, spinne-bluhme.
