I've been meaning to do this for a while now. My mother, the owner of this blog, and the most amazing woman in the world passed away on the 31st of October 2011.
She had been ill for a number of years but always afraid to visit the doctors, and one day her body just gave up it's long battle with undiagnosed Sarcodiosis.
My mother was an artist, my house is full of her work- from sketchbooks of doodles to origami masterpieces to 6ft tall canvases. Part of her illness caused a depression which made her lose the confidence I always remember her having when I was a young child. She became apathetic and afraid of human interaction outside our family home. She doubted every piece of art she created, deeming it useless or rubbish; "not good enough" was her mantra.
Then she discovered tumblr, she would spend an hour a day marvelling at other people's art work or simply just the beautiful things in the world she wanted to discover. With every follower or message, she became happier. I remember coming home from college day after day and she'd ask me to sit with her and look at the photos that she found distinctly wonderful. We really bonded.
She dreamt of visiting Paris and New York and so many places, but she couldn't. However, I feel her blog is the perfect window to my mother's personality. She was a beautiful, generous, creative, kind, soothing and perfect woman. She loved cats and baking and pens. She was so strong.
I considered deleting her blog but the thought was too painful, i'm leaving it here so that anyone in the world can have the slightest glimpse at what made my mother so special. She is my role model in so many ways and I hope that she is remembered.
This will be the last post in this blog, I pray that she approves.
