      ◯  MIKA (TAKAISIN) [to premiere 2023, Finland and Portugal] 16. 04. 2022, Helsinki. We had our 1st open rehearsal of TAKAISIN. At Friskis&Svettis´ studio 20 people came to see and celebrate the first 40 minutes of choreographic & narrative creation. It went Glorious! Thank you so much for sharing the inspiration x

December 2017 - January 2018 I started to write MIKA (now TAKAISIN) in a remote island in the Archipelago sea while in residency working on concepts such as remoteness, marginality and the isolation of the body in the Arctic landscape. Pan Sonic & Mika Vainio’s music were very much present during my time alone on the island. Their sound is a dream to work at: cinematic, noir, unless anything else. And Konstellaatio sounds particularly personal; a life path, a narrative journey of intimacy + disruptiveness per se. I started to explore that journey on the body: outdoors in full darkness, the animal body,  guided by senses other than the sight, creating from memory with space and geography. The same afterwards in Helsinki, - as Konstellaatio provokes that disruptiveness in space + sound, a different dramatic arc: of an urban and metallic atmosphere; more mysterious movements of the body: tense, noir, between the human and the animal. (....) On the last day of 2020, in a last day of auditions, Krista Arppo and I met. Karoliina Loimaala joined a month after, beginning of 2021. Soon we could slowly start to materialize it across Finnish geography <3 TAKAISIN is a 3-act dispositiv for film and stage. More about it in the future.

◯ Currently an artist in residence in Joutsa & Tampere. Working with landscape. Creating for stage. 

 A toast to the past! ☮ I can´t believe it’s over 10 years of “Loca”, “Like a Gipsy”, “Sale el Sol”, “Waka Waka”, and a few others ! We had so much fun with this album ! 2010 & 2011 were in/sa/ne/ly prolific years for Shakira and our production houses in Barcelona.  We were creating a music video every 2 months, TV spots, plus the visuals for her world tours. There was always something massive to film and photograph.  I entered Shakira’s team in Proppa / Laiguana when I was 24, as 1st and 2nd AD to Nacho Gómez, Alejo Levis and Jaume DeLaiguana. What a school. I remember working 10 to 12 hours everyday, receiving the craziest briefings, figuring it out + creating much of her universes on my own, to deliver to Shak’s PR and marketing teams which were also running on crazy deadlines; that’s how we learn: making, delivering, waiting for feedback!...  It’s a whole different reality niche, world pop. It was incredibly valuable !  Fun to look at it after these years and to remember those beinfings & visual treatments. Gracias a la Shaki y a tdx por la ruta!

NOW: PORTO, AVEIRO, LISBOA (& MORE TO COME) And it finally premiered with such phenomenal reviews, BATE FADO by Jonas&Lander, the creators duo with who I collaborated in this particular piece merging our researches and familiar universes ~ 

As you know all social media fucks big time the communication of our work with their ridiculous nude policies not allowing female breasts. And nipples are something that appear often in my film, performance and photo; so I’m working on a new website to share what’s been on film + galleries’ walls in the last years.  // Porto, Serralves Last February, Tatu Rönkkö and I we have presented “City By Night” in the Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art Porto for the 9 hours the Museum was open (10:00-19:00). With no interval, people could come, stay and leave at anytime. Tatu was always there with his varied instruments and sonic landscapes, my video installation too. Thanks to everyone at Serralves for their support to the piece and to everyone that visited during those 9 hours!  xx    // City by Night is a five-part performance piece that happens in Helsinki, Paris, Berlin, Tokyo and Porto between 2018-2020. In this long durational performance and sound piece, Finnish percussionist Tatu Rönkkö ​explores the sounds and atmosphere of each of those cities by night. Using that gathered sonic material, Rönkkö performs from the opening until the closing hour of the museum without intervals, accompanied by intermittent video created by the Portuguese filmmaker ​Catarina Neves Ricci​. July 2019 MARIA premieres in TV after such an amazing Festival circuit! You can watch it at RTP, the Portuguese public service broadcaster, on Saturday July 6th at 00:00.  MARIA is distributed in Portugal by Ukbar Filmes, and in the rest of the world by Origine Films France.

OF AMSTERDAM premiered in cinema on January 26th 2012 in the Netherlands. In the past years there were many approaches to screen it here and there - and for different reasons I kept saying “No”. However, it’s a new year and I said ‘Yes’ to a cinema in Warsaw, Poland, which will screen both MARIA (2018) and OF AMSTERDAM (2012). It feels good to revisit it!  If you’re in Warsaw or near, join us; drop by DKF Faktor Berlinski cinema on Friday February 15th. I’ll be there for Q&A. It’ll be special!
