In the dry and cracked bed of the Yellow River, I saw the microscopic boundaries in nature, which were originally whole, separated by the lack of water, and each small piece became an individual. The cracks, on the other hand, are intact and link together to form a net. This is very much like society today, where in the real world people are becoming more and more alienated from each other, but the virtual world of the internet connects people who are not connected to each other. When a boundary is formed, new connections emerge and vice versa. Through the restoration of cracked land, space and boundaries are transformed and I realise that the concept of ‘restoration’ is also about ‘reconnection’. The restoration of the cracked land is a kind of ‘healing’ of my concern for the living environment, both for nature and for me.
