On this day we will show a series of presentations and performances by our collective artist as well as some guest artists.
With this finnisage we create a smaller world bridging the gaps in-between our audiences and artists to this larger place we call home. We connect on a deeper level when we share more intimate and personal works giving the viewer a look into ourselves and allowing ourselves into being more vulnerable and open.
I hope everyone is staying well and safe and we are looking forward to finally bring some really personal and beautiful works for all your beautiful eyes and ears to enjoy.

Spicy
Spicy
The company I have kept, and the company
who has kept me. We are spicy.
I have never chosen a man based on:
money
looks
or status
But I have chosen a man based on:
pleasure
intelligence
and creativity.
I know this is a spicy luxury, I am a product
of my sisters
mothers
and grandmothers.
The luxury of being able to
live
my
life
with the choice of spicy. I know this is not true
for everyone, but please don’t criticize
my pleasure because
you
do not
understand
your own
It’s not my fault spice upsets your stomach.

A Bus Stop With An Ocean View 1. I have figured it out: how to visit the ocean. I watched a lady standing at the bus stop she was waiting for the bus; people can still take the bus. I stood across the road, watching her; she showed me the rules. The ocean is behind the bus stop and the police well, they’ll let you take the bus. The bus takes everyone. Now, this is not a profound trick but it is a trick nonetheless of a simple pleasure. 2. I walked back to the Carrefour to get a vending machine coffee; no cafes are open now, due to the virus. I then walked back to the road, with my coffee. I, too, can stand at the bus stop I, too, can visit the ocean I, too, can catch this mild thrill. 3. I stood at the bus stop drinking my coffee, looking at the ocean. Four police passed behind me with their guns —eerie. People with masks sped by in their cars —bizarre. Runners jogged across the way on the sidewalk —orderly. And then, the bus came. 4. This is my new trick, to visit the ocean. It’s charming to pretend you’re waiting waiting for nothing. Refreshing, no? Never going anywhere, nowhere to go standing at the bus stop only for the view.

Welcome to the “Everything Home Is Far Away” Finissage. We are happy to present our first experiment with our online “random art matching systems.” Today, we are showcasing a series of presentations and performances by our collective artists as well as guest artists. With this finnisage we aim to create a smaller world bridging the gaps between our audiences and artists to this larger place we call home. We connect on a deeper level when we share more intimate and personal works giving the audience a look into ourselves and allowing ourselves to be more vulnerable and open. Every performer is from different backgrounds and mediums: photographers, performers, poets, engineers, pharmacists, and coders. For many here, not only are they sharing a very personal side of themselves and exploring their vulnerability, but also it’s their first performance and artistic exploration to the public. Below you can choose any of the live stream rooms or click our random button to be matched with any of our artists at random. All performances are simultaneous and of different lengths. However, after each performance is over, we’ll be uploading a video of the live recording in case you missed it. Please note that after our three hour series of live streams, we’ll be hosting an after-party celebration with a night of dangerous and dancy Arabic tunes by our collaborators DJ MOLOKHEYA streaming live from Tübingen. We are happy to see you here and hope you enjoy our experiment.

Ugly Love
This love is ugly
Throwing breadcrumbs at the poverty you created morally bankrupt, robber of dignity no, Sir, I don’t want no more Ugly, is this love? Peering into my agency paper cuts on my independence dead words and ghost threats I will not shine your glass ego Love, this is ugly A wasteland of emotions swimming in the swamp of your fear a small eel between my legs cupid’s arrow for your integrity Your love is ugly Blisters and callused feet splints in your fleshy privileged knees I’m a track star with a sharp field sword run at me, let’s see who bleeds first This is ugly love.
I'm your Wendy, Montreal A teenage scumbag with emotional baggage no therapist can undo Peter Pan magic flying me home at five AM covered in gold streets blurring together like that Bran Van 3000 song (I just want to love you, I just want to take you there…) let’s take Beaubien, Tinkerbell’s too gone to know
The longest relationship I’ve ever had I’m your jealous lover at minus thirty below ready to take Toronto to the alley for a beat prank call Calgary with sexy stories of liberation maybe I’ll let some other cities join us, but keep your eyes on me or I’ll make it 1995, I'll be the love police
Tears streaming down my face when I land at Pierre Elliot Trudeau relief filling my body when we drive the potholed Quebec roads you’ve made a woman child, you’re the background on my phone (I’ll believe in anything, you’ll in believe in anything…) oh, I cannot talk of love if I do not talk of you, Montreal you can be a teenage dirtbag—fucked up—but aren’t we all?

Cat treats
Oh, big whoop, said the cat,
another man is mad at me
because I will not act like a dog.
I have decided this is the reason
a dog is a man’s best friend:
the dog, desperate & naive
does as the man says
when the man wants
—what a twit, thought the cat.
Oh, big whoop, the cat remarked,
here we go again, another man
is mad at me for not doing
as he says, when he says
as he wants, when he wants.
Observing the man, the cat prepared
for his show. “Why don’t you beg
for my love as the dog does?”
the man screamed. “Why don’t you
follow me around as the dog does?”
the man shouted. “Why don’t you
do what I say as the dog does!”
the man yelled. “CAN’T YOU
JUST SIT!” the man, red in the face,
cried, as he fell to the sofa.
Oh, big whoop, here it is again,
smirked the cat, always the same scene.
Picking at my fur with spiteful words,
the wrath of a glass ego, sighed the cat.
The man, boiling & soured, growled
at the cat. His eyes explored for flaws to
scorn the cat. His eyes probed for traits to
degrade the cat. His eyes scanned for mistakes to
humiliate the cat. How do I break the cat?
he thought. The cat smiled, knowing it was
always the same game. “Why can’t you just be
weak?” the man whispered, words aching
with discomfort.
The cat jumped to the sofa arm, where
the man laid. “Why don’t you,” avowed the cat,
yawning, looking at the man, “appreciate what
I am as I am. You’re the one who wanted a cat.”
The cat, drawing its paw to clean the torn fur,
continued, “Have you not learned, you cannot own
a cat.” The man, irritated, stared at the cat as
his eyes seethed with passionate disapproval.
The cat resumed, “You see, the cat goes
where the cat wants to go. The cat eats
what the cat wants to eat. The cat sleeps
where the cat wants to sleep, & the cat
loves who the cat chooses to love.”
The man rolled to the side of the sofa
& stared at the floor. The cat stretched & arched
it’s back & pounced to the hardwood. Sitting in
front of the man, the cat purred, “Have you
not learned, the more you try to mold me &
control me, the further I run. I have already left
a country, & maybe next time, I’ll leave the
planet.” The man glared, his ego now impotent.
Oh, big whoop, the cat reiterated as it
walked away to go lay in the sun. The same
violin, the same song. & the man, he got up,
& went & adopted a rescue dog.
