“say one more word and we’ll turn your brain inside out,” the triplets cautioned, eyes flashing with annoyance. if it wasn’t evident in their facial features that they were exhausted, then their sudden retort surely gave it away. “we’ve been trying to track some mutants that went missing a couple of days ago,” mindee explained shortly after the three managed to regain their composure. “we didn’t mean to snap,” she continued after phoebe and celeste showed no signs of apologizing. “what do you want?” phoebe interjected, disregarding mindee’s excuse. 

Harry let out a small chuckle, knowing well that she would be far too bored by the idea of his job and everything that was his responsibility to handle. “Hey, fake it till you make it, y’know?” It felt like that was his current motto – or, at least, it would be for the next few months. His main concern was set on his own mental and physical health, hoping that whatever drove his father to be the way he was, didn’t also take him in the process. But, that wasn’t something he was willing to let anyone else know.

With a shrug, Harry’s eyes focused on the distance in front of them again. It wasn’t that he was necessarily afraid of responsibility, he just wasn’t prepared to lose himself in the way he had before, or even worse than that. “We’ll see,” he started, a smile playing on his lips, “maybe I’ll drop out and take ballet. Who’s gonna stop me?”

                     Cassandra nodded silently but her eyes averted away, not really liking the fact that he didn’t really have a choice on that matter. She used to live day by day doing what she was told to do without really understanding why she was doing it was too late, she got blood in her hands. All she could do was hope for the best.     “ Maybe, you always have it in you, who knows? Or you can do it differently? For the better? “    He grew up in this world after all. At that point, Cassandra didn’t know what exactly she was talking about. She simply wanted to lift that weight in his shoulder for a bit. That’s what friends do, after all. 

“We did.” Damian answers with a smirk, sometimes wishing that he had grown closer to his siblings at an earlier age. He had been stubborn — still very much set in his ways, but more open with his family at least. Strangers? Not so much. He was straight a lot of lessons over the years — some about hurting others, and a lot more about saving them instead.

“Exactly what I was thinking. Snacks would be great — ones that aren’t crunchy so it doesn’t make a lot of noise. We can stick to the shadows, what we do best.” He says as he was already thinking about what he’ll need.

                     Cassandra and Damian were probably push to each other by circumstances, being half of their family gone to the past but they had better understanding of each other. She used to stay away from him as he was raised by the same people was running away from. But life works in odd ways.

Harry listened closely, his arms crossing over his chest. Over the years of attending formal events, he had become accustomed to keeping close with the Wayne kids after getting a scolding to behave around others. Of course, that was far from an issue, considering he was never really invested into any of the events and his mind was always in a different place. “Shifting, huh? Sounds pretty weird,” he noted, his fingers tapping against his elbow, “but, I guess it’s better than being completely alone. At least you know they are there, even if it’s not… at the same time. So, what about you then? What have you been up to? Did you unknowingly become a CEO as well?” His tone had a hint of amusement, a small smile pulling at the corner of his lips. Part of him figured, if he didn’t allow himself to joke about the things that pained him, they would cause harm forever. 

                      There was, of course, that time when most of them have to back in time to make the present more bearable. For a couple of years, they were out of reach to the point she thought they were dead and every day, Cass had to deal with that nagging thought of them possibly going back to the past again. Harry didn’t need to know that.    “ You are right. But hey, you don’t have to be alone. “    His words really made her feel better as it pulled her back to what’s important; the present. She had better than he was having.

Damian has always kept up a tough act, but even those he was close to were able to break through the wall. He just doesn’t show everyone that he has those emotions. “I know that, you’re better than anyone out there.” He says it honestly because his sister was the only other person other than himself that he knows is one of the best.

He may be a lot of things, but he does have a heart. His PET COW was proof of that. “We can definitely do that. How about we start tonight?” If he can save them from whatever is going to be done to them then that’s ideal.

                    The more time she spent with Damian, the more she realized the similarities between them. Both were raised to be assassins but end up living to save lives. Both carved their own path that was different from what they were supposed to be.     “ We both learned from the best. “     They were raised by the League of Assassins but they were both Bruce’s children and they were taught to make the right choices.

Harry shrugged, really not even sure if he was ready to talk about anything related to the matter. It was no secret that his father was no longer there — if it hadn’t been recognized by the tabloids, it would have been recognized elsewhere, and it seemed to be a topic everyone wanted to discuss. Although, he knew it was only discussed on terms to ease him or bring him some sort of comfort, it usually had the opposite effect. He was never one to display his emotions, or at least discuss them, and that hadn’t changed. Maybe it was the years of neglect that made him uncomfortable with the idea, or the thought that someone would then be concerning themselves with his problems. At her words, Harry’s eyes flickered to the familiar girl. “Honestly?” He paused for a moment, “I think I’d rather talk about… anything else.” His tone was settled, enough for anyone who knew him to realize that he wasn’t trying to be rude. “How are things in the Wayne’s corner?”

Sitting on the curb of the all too familiar building, Harry extended his legs with his feet crossing over one another. The building behind him was used for galas and larger events in the corporate world, before the world turned into… this. When his only real concern would be his father attempting some publicity stunt among the rich and famous, or worrying about which suit would look best compared to his friends outfits. Tedious at the time, his mind now visited those same nights, with a bit of nostalgia washing over. The sound of footsteps nearby pulled him back into reality, his gaze still in the direction of his feet. Nothing seemed real to him anymore, but just like his father, he could pretend until everyone else was fooled by the facade — maybe, eventually, fooling himself as well. “This place seems really empty in the middle of the day,” he admitted, now focused on the empty building.

             Cassandra just wanted something peaceful...at least, somewhere quite. She was not sure if her presence was wanted and though she couldn’t read minds, she could see the tension on his body as he was in deep thought.    “ Rare thing in this city, huh ? “    She said as she pulled herself and curled into a sitting position beside him, arms wrapped on her bent knees. She rested her chin on her knees and just stared to nothing in particular. 

There had been a time Damian didn’t have much outside of his mother and grandfather. Now? He has quite a large family with a lot of siblings, and he doesn’t mind being the baby of the family. He knows they’ll all see him that way even if he grows up. “I do too.” Damian agrees with a nod of his head.

He looks at the data, briefly scanning across it with his eyes. “If anyone tries to take you they’re losing their hands.” He wouldn’t let harm come to his sister, but then his expression softens. “How about  we try to help them? Somehow? The others?”

                 Damian may be the baby of the family he always act like a big tough guy. At first, she wasn’t all for the threats that Damian drops but times had change and honestly, she would do the same for him.     “ You know, I wouldn’t give them a chance. “
