“Yes, I know how to play the guitar. I went through a phase like anyone else…unfortunately.”

“Um, okay? Know any Mayday Parade? If not surprise me.”

“Are you talking to me or a phone? Cause if it’s the phone, McDonald’s doesn’t exactly deliver.”

“Sorry, this was kind of…sudden-ish?” He made a face at his own choice of words but he shrugged and left it alone. “Yeah, I made friends. It’s a small group of friends, but they’re great.”

She smiled and told him she was glad that he was happy before confustion took over her face. Sudden? “Um...okay? When do I get to see you again though? Like in person?” 

The boy followed her line of site to the right, with slightly parted lips in a look of intent interest. “That’s a good enough guess for me. Thank you greatly, Ms..?”

It took a moment to realize that he was waiting for her to say her name. “Cassandra. Though you can just call me Cassie. I don’t exactly work here yet, so calling me ‘Miss’ isn’t necessary.”

“I’M SORRY SEASON STARTED AN— Wait, C-Cassie?” Stitch’s face temporarily went into shock before snapping out of it and nodding. “I got fifth place. And yes it’s for them.” 

“Yeah, it’s me. I see you for like a while, go back home to get the rest of my things, and then you’re gone. Like honestly.” Narrowing her eyes at the child, she pursed her lips and stared at him. Sighing she asked if he was at least getting better.

“Well, I wake up around this time anyway.”

“Do you really? At this ungodly hour?”

“How rude, I come back to the academy and you’re not here. Who am I supposed t- wait-- Top five for a first race? What are y- You’re racing? Don’t tell me it’s for your parents.” Cassie stared at the screen with her mouth slightly open.

“Uh- please excuse me, but would you happen to know where the biology department is located?”

“I believe it’s in that direction over there,” Cassie gestured to her right. “But I could be wrong. I’m a bit new. But I saw students with lab coats in that direction, so I can’t be that far off.”

“Okay, awesome! I’m sort of modelling it off Lady Gaga’s Grammy’s dress—.. y’know, the silver one? Ugh, so gorgeous—.. anyway, here’s my prototype.” She shows her a similar dress, but with gold hues through it, a proud smile on her face. “I’m thinking of closing the neckline a little, just because of the build of my model. What’s your thoughts?”

Cassie nodded and smiled. “It’s beautiful.” She took a step closer to examine it better. “Yeah, closing the neckline just a bit might be good. Maybe like, just up to an inch and a half below the boob.”

“Takin’ trips like that cost money soo..i’ll just stick to New York.”

“Aww. Well I’m sure if I ever go back to visit, I can take some pictures of the sights there and give them to you. They’ll be much better than Google.”

“God, I’m so sorry.” Lyria shot a smile of thanks to the girl, now looking for her phone. “Well, that’s pretty good reasoning by all means.” She shrugged as the other spoke. “It’s an iPhone—.. I was texting my boyfriend, and it fell from my hands facedown.”

“It happens to the best of us. I’ve had my fair share of dropping my phone.” She laughed quietly to herself. “Is it that right there?” She pointed to an object just a few feet away from them.

“I actually haven’t, since that would be an invasion of privacy and I am so not about that life. But since you’re here now, would you mind coming in and telling me about a dress I’ve been working on?”

“No I don’t mind at all. I’d love to see this dress.”

“Oh, so you just got here then. I’ve never been there..how is it?”

“Yeah, and it’s pretty cool. I’m from the So-Cal area and it’s quite lovely. You should visit it when you get the chance.”

“How can I go to sleep when you just got here?”

“You uh...pretend that I’m not here yet and go to bed.”

“Oh..well okay then.” She shrugged, taking another sip of her drink. “I’m alright I guess, how about you?”

“Same. Just some slight jet lag. My body is still thinking it’s in California. And I don’t sleep until 1 AM there so.”

“Peering into people’s rooms is ‘passing by’ now? Thanks for the definition.”

“Well you can’t say that when a door is open when walking by, you haven’t stopped to take even the briefest of moments to look in. But I’ll leave now.”
