trigger warnings: psychosis, mental illness, addiction, implied homophobia
HEY, i think i just saw BANDIT VADDHANA walking down the strip. stop by to catch up and you’ll learn the THIRTY-THREE YEAR OLD is working as a EXOTIC DANCER AT GLITTER GULCH LOUNGE AND DIRTY CITIZEN FOR THE CACTUS CATS and lives in MANOR SUITES. given they are GREGARIOUS but VAINGLORIOUS, it’s likely that they ARE NOT a vampire. on the flipside, rumor has it that SHE AND HER ROOMMATE HAVE BEEN GIVEN EVICTION NOTICES BECAUSE SHE ISN'T PAYING THE RENT AND USING IT ON GAMBLING AND SHE'S BEEN HIDING IT FROM THEM and it keeps them looking over their shoulder. i bet you can find them tearing up the dance floor to HOT-TO-GO BY CHAPPELL ROAN and you’ll know why they’re called THE CASQUETTE GIRL. ☾ .⭒˚ lalisa manoban. genderfluid + she/they/any. homosexual + gemini.
she was the family gem: the first-generation american in her family to dig worms out of the soil in new orleans. as her parents' youngest child, she was set up for the greatest failure that a parent possibly could: expectations. her gifted potential caused her to excel in school, particularly reading and mathematics, third placer in the middle school science fair with the braces on her teeth and all. kids in her class and judges alike couldn't pronounce her name right, but she didn't give a flying fuck because she loved to win
other than her parents' inflated ego of her potential and their rocky marriage, her childhood was relatively normal, spending weekends helping with their small business and doing homework. what went wrong? where did it go wrong? a million dollar question she didn't think she'd ever have the answers to. she was largely raised by a sister ( wanted connection ) whilst her parents saw her as a gold mine waiting to happen
graduating at the top of her class and given a full ride to a university in NOLA and a concentration in pre-law, they had plans to be a kick-ass lawyer and take names, but seemingly cracked under the pressure. aside from the gifted kid burnout, she was sneaking out paying adults to buy her liquor, hooking up with classmates, dabbling in drugs, picking fights and all of a sudden, she blew it at twenty-one
her very first manic episode. she couldn't tell you the date it ended, only that fourteen months later, she left lunch with a friend after the lights flickered and walked home on autopilot. to a husband she didn't remember marrying that moved her away from the city, no scholarship, no degree. she had isolated herself from her family and vacated university without properly dropping out, accruing debt owned to loan sharks for a semester unfinished
mortified and hopeless, she called her parents, but they didn't answer, dismayed by her unpaid debts and disgraced by her behaviors. she was too embarrassed to seek out her sister and beg for forgiveness. devastated and feeling trapped, she managed it for a few more months before running out onto the highway in the midst of a paranoid delusion that her husband was out to kill her. it was with the help of a friend ( wanted connection ) that she was able to pack her things and leave, subjecting a liaison to serve the divorce papers
the stress of moving and starting over sent her into another manic episode. the lure of the slots at all the casinos on the strip was what she became obsessed with and shopping at all the quirky gift shops and tourist traps
her marriage had its perks, like a good enough credit score to open several accounts and land a lease with a condo in manor suites, but her addiction to sitting in front of the machines on days she's not working is inching her closer and closer to an eviction notice for her and her one roommate
somewhere in the middle of it, she did come to terms with her sexuality, and has no problems with it, but she was lonely in the city without the support of her parents or as many friends as she'd like, but she tries to distract herself with her passion for dancing. and eventually, she found a romantic interest and girlfriend in iris hawkins, though they broke up last year
in some other facts, she's literally dolly parton's biggest fan, has probably seen dollyworld... dozens of times. it inspired her burlesque and she normally sports a bob as her natural self, but her persona, zelie lace, wears 70s-style updos. she would make a terrible pet owner but would kill it at roller derby. and just insanely obsessed with glitter and her '59 pink cadillac is her BABY
