I am South African, yes. My parents benefitted from apartheid because they are white. I continue to benefit from being white in a country where our economy has not fundamentally changed from what it was under apartheid.

The present economy is neoliberal with a national bourgeoisie. Ending apartheid brought democratic equality, but not economic equality. How could I not be a Marxist when I can see the material conditions around me?

Communism is imperialism and colonialism, and this is evidenced by how European white socialist nations have free healthcare and university while the entire global South suffers, even when they are communist or socialist. Look at who suffers under communism, like the Uyghurs in concentration camps, or Ukrainians against Russian imperialism, it is always the people who are not the dominant ethnic and cultural majority who end up in the communist gulags. Which is the definition of colonialism you racist ass white boy. Shut up about what Africans should do, and go back to your Dutch people. The apartheid is over. We blame the people being paid less than minimum wage working in farms and on street corners for theft, while our government is actively fucking all of us over on a daily basis.

how does one continue living peacefully in a world that continues to harm itself ?

some years back i came across a quote that said something along the lines of how do you live peacefully when the world is full of grotesque things, i can't remember the exact quote.

but honestly, how does one do it? i'm convinced somebody has no heart and concern for human well-being or even themself when they can carry on in this world without feeling anything due to the changes in this world.

it's 30 june tomorrow; a chosen day by xenophobic south africans to attack african immigrants in the country as a means to permanently get them out of the country. it's ironic and sad, kicking away the very same people that provided them a safe haven during apartheid.

no one really knows exactly how this is gonna turn out tomorrow, neither do i but i know i'm scared, a lot of us are.

one can only hope no lives are lost with these violent protests but given how this sort of thing has played out in the past, it's likely that will happen.

throughout everything we must not lose hope, we must not stop advocating for what's right;

and most importantly we must not lose our UBUNTU.

Community is important, and what we do to others we are essentially doing to ourselves. The problem is never immigrants but your government.
