@cascadiian âĄÂ for a mr. green oak !
it isnât often that he gets to visit the gym leaders back in kanto, not when heâs traveling the world so much. there are many pokemon out there for him to see  âââ  almost too many, and he canât possibly have all the time to research on each one of them. but kanto is his HOME, the one place he can visit over and over to rid himself of the homesickness. Â
thereâs one gym leader in particular that he wants to check up on today. he often calls her MERMAID, if heâs in a good mood, or  QWILFISH, if heâs looking to annoy her. unfortunately, right now, he has this massive urge to annoy her.
â  hey, QWILFISH, youâll get a stroke swimming under this heat,  â  he snickers out, once heâs reached the edge of the pool, careful not to accidentally slide into the water. heâs too lazy to change clothes, and being soaked isnât exactly under his agenda right now.  â  have some water before you faint, little mermaid, or youâre going to leave me worried.  â
with a grin, he hands her a bottle of water he bought before he arrived at the gym.  â  howâs life treating ya, misty ?  good, i hope. are you taking a vacation every now and then ?  you look a little stressed. are those WRINKLES i see ?  â
She was busy. Of course she was, she was a gym leader. The morning was filled with back to back battles. New trainers seemed to be popping out of the woodwork left and right, one right after the other. Usually, Misty didnât mind because it kept her occupied and perfectly distracted, but today... well, they created some technical difficulties in the gym. After the last battle (a particularly fierce trainer with an all electric team), the lights in the pool had cracked, and thus created an unsafe arena. So now she had to fix them before the next battle.
Breaking the surface after being underwater for way too long, Misty took in the biggest breath sheâd ever taken before before swimming to the edge of the pool and resting her arms on the deck. She was feeling lightheaded, but at least she was done. For a minute, all she could hear was the water moving gently behind her in the wake sheâd left as sheâd surfaced. It was nice. It was quiet. It was peaceful, but then. But then.
She could feel her eye physically twitch --- she almost didnât want to turn around.Â
It wasnât so much that it was him, just the words coming out of his mouth. She watched him through narrowed eyes as he approached oh so nonchalantly. The redhead stared up at Green holding out a bottle of water.Â
âTch, thanks.â She took the water from him, uncapping it and practically inhaling the liquid. âWe canât all be as carefree as you, Green.â
Misty crushed the bottle --- easier to recycle --- and popped herself out of the pool, perching right on the edge. Legs still dangled in the water as she leaned back on her hands.Â
âIâll let those comments slide just because I havenât seen you in a minute. What have you been up to, kid?âÂ
