Ezekiel: *chuckles* yeah, you keep saying that.

Ezekiel knows Carol so well that he can see right through her and knows right away that she’s done something to tip the scales towards him. He doesn’t particularly like it because he’s an honorable man and would rather die than have someone else lost in order to save him.

But Carol loves him too much to let him die. She knows that he is honorable but that the system is broken. She also knows that given the chance, Ezekiel will change things for the better.

Carol holding Ezekiel’s hand is personal to me. Her saying she will be there when he wakes up is personal to me.
