Haven’t been on here in a while but felt that I had to document and round up the year on this little blog of mine.
Everv year outdoes the one before, and I mean this even if it has been the “worst” year.
I would say that this is one of the toughest years that I’ve had so far. Apart from turning 22 (dang it), this year also marks the start of a long (period), long-distance relationship. I guess this is God’s way of forcing me to be more independent. I’ve always been a clingy girlfriend, and while I would say I’m not as clingy as I was before, priorities have definitely been shifted and it’s probably time for me to shift it back onto myself for a while before we dive into marriage.
Another hallmark event would definitely be getting myself admitted into the hospital LOL. I always thought that if I died, I wouldn’t have that many people coming to my funeral. They would just voice their “condolences” over virtual, immaterial spaces. Not only did I have truly precious people coming to visit me and tide me through the long wait in the emergency room, I really felt God move in that one-night stay. While a back strain sounds small, having a major muscle pronounced to be non-functionable was frightening. I never really noticed how much my back muscle was doing, even in getting me to sit up against a bed. I couldn’t even do that until about 24 hours later and loads of muscle relaxants injected into my body. And not having sqr around... sigh....... up till this day, he probably still thinks I was exaggerating my pain
Thirdly, friendships forged and strengthened. University didn’t start out well and over the past 2 years, I actually thought I would end up the same as in poly and wind up with no purposeful, like-minded friends I would keep after graduation. I entered with the motivation that I HAD to make friends, thinking it was that easy, but having to do well in studies and separating myself from the toxicity of Dragonboat was.... overwhelming. Thank God that I actually have become better friends with the few people I never thought I would be this close with (((:
Fourth, I see hope in graduating well with good grades!!! I deproved from Dragonboat and then managed to do better at the end of y2, so I hope my upcoming results would be good (‘:
Fifth and probably last, I see and feel a growth in my character. I haven’t read so much in a year (excluding my academic journals and readings), and haven’t had my mindset challenged so much. Thanks to sqr too for forcing me to partake in more social events, because I do force myself to talk more and being more sociable this year. I feel like I’ve also become a wiser person, as in, one who people can rely on or talk to....? At least that’s what I think LOL.
But ya, cheers to a fulfilling 2017. I prayed that I would be more like Jesus and I am closer to that. May 2018 be another year, greater than before (:
