"I think I missed the gun at the starting line."
I don’t think Luke Hemmings understands how powerful that lyric is, and maybe he didn't actually put any meaning into that lyric or maybe he did but, there is something so raw and true in a sense. As if "he" (Luke in question) didn't realize that events were happening with or without him, like nobody cared if he started first or ended last, life still went on. And I take it back on how I relate to it, there are days where I feel stuck to my seat- like my whole entire life was passing me by and the people I used to know were going on without me, as if I was in the backseat, trying to take control of the wheel but it just keeps getting further and further away—out of reach, almost. I guess what I'm saying is...nobody gives a shit if you're paying attention or not to the things going on around you— life, if you will, even if they're giving you a clear signal, (it could be as loud as a gun) at the end of the day- you gotta make it on your own, right?
