Cutieful yaoi romance <3
tv experiences concequences for the first time, never recovers
Since the newsletter regarding Tenna and Spamton people have been going all (typical) black and white about Spamton and Tennaβs relationship and I just need to clarify how silly it is to point fingers at one or the other when they BOTH were problematic.
Tenna knew something bad would happen and made Spamton sign the contract anyway believing he could defy fate WITH Spamton.
Spamton lied about who he really was and how he got big to Tenna because why would he reveal that he actually didnβt know what he was doing and only got big because of the benefactor?
If Tenna knew how he actually got big, he probably wouldβve not even gotten as close to Spamton as he had in the first place. Letβs not forget he thought Spamton was some genius salesman and knew everything about modern technology. Spamton lied and was actually just an unlucky spam email that finally got his big break after getting in contact with the benefactor.
Tenna also lied about being a good boss and ignorant that bad things would happen to Spamton if he signed the contract.
Theyβre both naive and terrified and continued to run from their issues.
Yeah Tenna wasnβt there for Spamton when he needed to be because he stubbornly thought Spamton had abandoned him even if in the back of his mind he probably knew that Spamton was actually suffering from the bad thing Tenna was warned about if he signed the contract. Guilt is eating him up inside for sure.
And then Spamton thought Tenna abandoned him after it all went down because Tenna never contacted him again.
They both lied to eachother and both tried to escape fate.
They both scammed one another without actually meaning to because their lies got so big that they couldnβt be contained.
Spamton was always living a lie just trying to be something else and not be treated like a nobody and Tenna was stuck in his own nostalgic fantasy and fear of being abandoned.
Iβm just so tired of people missing the point of morally grey characters and their nuances. Having to point fingers at one character vs another.
Well I mean⦠yeah of course Tenna is problematic, he trapped a bunch of kids in a gameshow and treats his employees like shit Imao how did people think he was some innocent bean?
But yeah heβs also a very lonely hurt individual.
Same for Spamton. The guy is the literal embodiment of a spam program. He steals, lies, cheats and tries to take Krisβ soul!
Yet he is also a lonely sad and tragic guy.
Letβs not pretend theyβre completely irredeemable or completely innocent!
Also this is coming from someone whoβs more of a Spamton fan than a Tenna one too!

How do you say "game over for my life for real" in Japanese
@factual-fantasy
i'd like to add that the shadow color isnt necessarily dictated entirely by the primary light source, but the bounce light! so for the example of a sunny environment, the reason the shadows are blue are because of the light from the blue sky reflects across the environment; but, if the character were to be under tree cover, the bounce light would be coming from the leaves and thus the shadow would look greener.
Yee yee!!! You got it right on the nose!
Bounce light is something I didn't cover but I adore it!
Gotta work on my bounce light πͺ

James Gurney is an absolute master and gives really good clarity on colour techniques. Yes, it is traditional paint focused, but the principles are the same. Yes it is informed by the environmental colour but as a painting technique it is achieved this way!
I would also suggest that in digital processing, rather than apply a regular colour layer at a mid opacity, try out the different types of layers, Eg. Screen or Multiply. This can give you at least a starting point to help direct your colour palette.
Layer Blend Modes are so so so important to working in digital art. There's a ton of math that goes into figuring out how the layers should blend together, which is why some of the modes you can pick are literally called Multiply, Add, Divide, and Difference (that's subtraction). The graphics software takes the color values of your base and blend layers and runs a calculation to get your resulting layer appearance. The ones that don't have specifically mathematical sounding names are still doing calculations, but they're more complicated (think linear Algebra and higher). Some of them, like dodge and burn, are named for actual photo editing techniques.
While it's not super important to know about the mathematical side of blend modes, I think it's worth knowing at least enough about how each of the categories of blend modes works and why they do what they do; if for no other reason than having a starting point when you start experimenting with them in your work.
An overview of the basic blend modes and how they work from Genevieve's Design Studio: Accessible with minimal color knowledge; practical and illustration focused. https://youtu.be/kMc87hQrJd0?si=TWCB365pKSfWS8p0. (16 minutes) This creator also has a ton of free resources you can download, including a Blend Modes cheatsheet, but fair warning: you have to create an account to get them!
Want to learn even more about the math-y stuff? It has great film visuals! A video from FilmmakerIQ: You need some basic knowledge of RGB color models, understanding of values/luma, and at least a tenuous understanding of Algebraic formulas. Online store soon? :0
I might be... getting an online store ready..... It's a new website I have seen other artists try out! And I am desperate to leave Redbubble - every time I look at their fees I feel myself age 1 year. I am so grateful to everyone who's bought my art on there, but I mostly kept it up because it made me happy to see my art be enjoyed all around the world as a physical object! But the exorbitant fees made it feel like I was just funneling money from people who enjoyed my art into a platform ripe with AI art, theft and awful payment and treatment towards small artists. And hey, yeah - I also wanted to get paid more from my art! I made it!!
Also this new page has so much merch variety... it's also Print on Demand, since that's the most viable option I have for an international store, but it's partnered with a merch producer that's well-established and who several people I know really enjoy and use!! - I am so so so excited to be able to sell sticker sheets and acrylic charms!!! Those are my favorite things to design!!!!!! And I really really wanted to make a spamtenna charm, but with no online store I wasn't sure the physical sales would be enough - now I can make all the self-indulgent merch I want!
I really am very excited :D and I'm starting my holidays this weekend, so expect new art and a lot of new stuff!! Yoo-hoo!!!
(Here's a snippet of something new I'm getting ready!)
I had to get my favorite moment from the new Defunctland video on its own

standout moment from Holly and her sister playing the Peppa Pig game
When I was a teenager and still on Neopets I was part of a pretty big Star Trek guild and eventually became part of its council, with the solemn duty of creating weekly polls. Well one day I created the poll "Which would win in a fight? Borg Cube or Death Star?". Naturally, since this was a Star Trek guild, the answer was overwhelmingly "Borg Cube", but someone did have the rationality to point out we were biased.
So I look up a pretty prominent Star Wars guild and message one of their council and ask them to poll the same question and get back to me in a week. They do, and naturally the fuckin geeks said "Death Star".
So then I look up a Stargate guild and messaged the lead council member, saying the same thing, and they get back to me almost immediately saying that the Death Star would immediately one-shot a Borg Cube but they would never be able to do it again to another Cube. And I took that wisdom back to my guild and we were mollified, and for one moment the Nerd World was peaceful.
Truly thrilled to finally find this post on my dash.
