Character Introduction #3

Been a while! Sorry if updates get slow. We’re working on this between school and work, so we make progress whenever we can!

Anyway, here’s Finn, Mary and Gigi’s childhood friend! Having grown up in the same neighborhood as the troublesome two, Finn is all too used to Mary’s antics. Though they’ve always been great friends, Finn’s grown much more distant as they’ve gotten older. Gigi, however, can’t help but notice his eyes still seem to find Mary whenever they are near each other…

Finn is an upcoming star on the baseball team, as well as within the school’s hierarchy. Despite his burgeoning popularity, he’s still a little reserved around his peers. Nothing wrong with being a little shy!

Character Introduction #2

Next on the list is Georgie, commonly known as “Gigi”!

Mary’s friend of practically a decade, Gigi has always been the rational mind to temper her friend’s impulsive spirit. Given the lucrative task by Mary’s parents to keep her out of trouble, Gigi has always done her best to think things through before the pair embarked on some crazy misadventure.

However, all this doesn’t mean Gigi is one to back down from a challenge. When Gigi is convinced her best friend will not change her mind on a subject, Gigi’s thought process changes from ‘How can I get Mary to stop?’ to ‘How can Mary and I get through this as efficiently as possible?’ She’s a real ride-or-die!

Character Introduction #1

Everybody say hello to Mary, the protagonist of Carmine Garden!

Mary is a bright and spunky teen with a knack for getting into all sorts of hijinks. She attends Carmine High School where, despite her grades not being the best, her athletic ability being underutilized, and her penchant for pranks, her bright and honest personality is rather beloved by staff and student alike.

However… something is stirring behind the scenes. She may not be aware of it yet, but she has pretty deep ties with some rather strange people. A sinister plot is brewing, and this young girl is soon going to find herself smack dab in the center of it all…

What?!? Actual gameplay?!

Yeah, that's right. We're not grifters, after all! Here's a little GIF demonstrating a tiny little snippet of the game. Now, you're probably (definitely) thinking what I think you're thinking- why the heck is this so ugly?! Worry not, friend. Pretty much everything you see is not final. Like, everything everything. It's a silly hodgepodge of goober assets done by yours truly mixed with some actually awesome sprites by the game's lovely artist extraordinaire.

There's much, much more to look at one the way. This was just to show that Carmine Garden is an actual thing that's happening! We're still figuring this whole thing out, so bear with us and ye shall be finely rewarded with the fruits of our labor. I have no idea why I'm typing like this. I'm kinda embarrased now.

What the heck is Carmine Garden? Good question!

Carmine Garden is a spooky upcoming RPGMaker game about cool stuff like vampires, intriguing stuff like school mysteries, and lovely stuff like friendship! If this is interesting to you in any way, follow us for updates! An actual website should be made in the near future with much more detail and fun stuff to check out, so stay tuned for that!

Fair warning: This is a game being developed by two people, both fairly novice when it comes to this kind of thing. Our goal with this blog isn't to try and build hype or try to make the game the next Big Thing; we just wanna have a fun way to document our progress and maybe find some folks who'll enjoy this little project we've got going on.
