Who or what do we choose to bring along with us for part of our journey through a world that is more on the move than ever before? Where can we find alliances that help us (put) progress into motion? The biennial Tanznacht Berlin 2016 (Berlin Dance Night 2016) is dedicated to search for exactly that interdependence, through the lens of the social choreography found in dance, song, installation or story-telling and the correlation between dance and speech, artist and audience, art and ecology, or dance history and body biographies.

In a critical engagement with mass protests, Mia Habib presents bodies which purposefully refuse singular interpretations, which the choreography draws on. Running and falling, moving in circles and sculptural tableaus, the bodies – which are permanently transforming and taking on new forms which are at turns animalistic, artificial, sacral or object-like – receive new ascriptions of meaning. The nudity performs the supposed naturalness of bodies, and exposes the naked truth of what it means to be human, where the question of whether we are looking at a human, an object or an animal loses all importance.

"UNTIL OUR HEARTS STOP" is a performative experimental set-up in which the experience of physical limits can explode mental barriers: naked, two people are separated by their skin, but through play, they become one experiential, sensuous organism. 

In Unraveled Heroes, choreographer Maya M. Carroll and Fattoria Vittadini create seven individuals who invent 'another earth'. Fiction and reality are fused in a journey of collective subconscious as the performers shift between extreme states. Familiar habitats become an illusion of protection, from which the players are compelled to travel away, following their unraveling future. Walking the fine line between lucidity / obscurity, the seven 'voices' in the group change faces and purpose while their voyage transforms from descending to transcending.
