September 11, 2001âŚ..A lot of us had our lives completely rearranged, and most of the rest felt that impact no less. My story is the perfect example of the utter gut-wrenching vulnerability that we, as a nation felt that day and how disorienting it was, in fact. Around 4pm, and Iâ5mons pregnant was leaving from picking up my oldest son from pre-k when turning left at a green-arrow-light, w/3 cars ahead of me making the turn as well: was t-boned on my side, shooting hairline fractures throughout my pelvis, dislocating my sacrum and fusing my pubic bone- I lost 3" in hip measurements as a result. Luckily neither of the kiddos were hurt, but I was told bye trauma specialist flown in from vacation look at me and told me I may never walk again. Not only have I walked- but I have travelled and modeled and danced after many years of coping with recurring PTSD and the fibromyalgia of course. We were all changed that day and we all chose to never let anything defeat our spirit and our familial instinct to persevere. My condolences to those who lost loved ones and I hope this brings those who have not been able to move forward and heal, understandably hoping they cld put a timeline on grief- patience, perseverance and good ole stubbornness will eventually cure you of what ails you and one day can, indeed-become whole again. Be brave. Be brave because it is the antithesis to the entire concept by which they acted upon that day.
