OMG I WILL TELL YOU GLADLY!!!

it's called "my student spirit", or "дух моей общаги" in russian. its a cartoon started on youtube, and you can watch all episodes there, in original and with english dub. first two episodes may seems weird, but cartoon made by indie studio, so they didn't have much production power back then. but starting with episode 3 its peak. and season two (ep. 6-10) is. absolute sinema.

the plot follows a student who died on his graduation day and became ghost haunting his dormitory room. in episode 1 he meets a guy who can see him and together they try to find a way to rest ghost guy in peace. ghost name is Olezha (or Elijah in official dub because they tried adapt names) and. Well. I love him so much. His plot is basically "i always did what other told me and when i died i realised i haven't lived my life the way i wanted".

Basically the show is about growing up, finding yourself and moving on after someone's death. Two very important side characters are Olya (Elisa) — Olezha's sister, and Anton (Anthony) — very gay-coded friend of Olezha, with whom Olezha had some. gay stuff.* and they all try to overcome their grief and guilt and you will find more if you watch so no spoilers there.

*gay stuff became very political and. its a russian cartoon. so gay and political stuff was toned down so nobody gets to prison, but subtext is THERE. queercoding at its finest.

One thing to add more interest in the show: the mistery about Olezha's death, because he himself believes he died by accident, his family and Anton (his only friend and crush) believe he committed suicide, but we quickly learn he was killed. So he and Dima (the only one who can see him) try to find the truth. And. There is so much juicy angst there.

aside from the show there is 4 comics singles, 3 of wich are pretty important, and all of them are awesome. in the beginning the show was made very slowly so first 3 comics were published between ep 1 and 3, and added a lot to the story. currently show is sponsored by Ökko (basically russian netflix) so we have higher episode quality, but even before it show was great. and. i just love this story so much and all the characters are so important to me and... yea over the years i befriended lots of people in fandom and many awesome artists who participate in the production!! so i highly recommend to check this show just for you to know how talented my friends and the production crew are!!!!
