this more than anything might make me lose followers but wow that really felt like it underwent almost no editing in 10 years. again the biggest problem Deltarune has seems to be that releasing chapters over such a long span of time is creating accelerated writing-decay where the things that the comedy and tonal atmosphere of the story is hinging itself on become painfully outdated by the time the next chapter comes out. following that line of thinking I could say one million things about the content of the new chapter itself that continue to solidify my opinion but I think at the end of the day it's more of a problem with the release model and how it completely kneecaps the pacing and fans' willingness to keep participating with a story that is essentially being drip-fed to them over a timespan of Years. and I'm saying all this as someone genuinely interested in the story, and as someone who has been here since undertale came out, all the way back when I was still a highly impressionable 12 year old! I should literally be 100% susceptible to the nostalgia but I'm still increasingly unenthused with the barrage of self-referencing going on since it /still/ ultimately amounts to nothing, eight years into Deltarune's story. it really just feels like all the worst parts of homestuck that made me stop reading it when I was a teenager. And also we need to have a conference about toby's "thing, japan" allowances like it really needs to end
