It’s possible that in relationships the more you live together and exist as a family, the spark of romance fades into something more mellow and consistent like safety, but in Loid’s case I see it more as he starts off with this consistency and experiencing being loved before he himself acknowledges that he too, is allowed to feel that way.

Because of the years of forbidding himself to get attached, to learn how to stay emotionally distanced from those he “works” with, this is the first emotionally charged segment of his life, where he slowly starts putting importance of the family, of his wife and daughter regardless of whether he believes it for the mission or not.

It’s so interesting to see his character flesh out because now he doesn’t just excuse every action with a “for the mission”, sometimes it’s genuinely “for Anya’s well-being”, or “for Yor’s happiness”. This man is becoming a father, a husband, a part of a family, something he hasn’t experienced in earnest since he was ~10, and is only natural that it creeps up on him and he has no clue what’s going on until he’s in too deep.
