what's the difference, you ask? didn't people of westview hate her? didn't she lose pietro and vision? the thing is, narrative presents it as unfair, as a tragedy that has nothing to do with her committing outright atrocities.

the fact she set off HULK on a huge city, murdering and injuring civilians for no other reason but because she wanted "the big one", who did NOTHING to her, isn't mentioned even ONCE and is immediately dismissed by steve when bruce actually brings it up.

her working for hydra (she knew perfectly well what she was doing, she wasn't in a cell when avengers came knocking), letting tony take the sceptre even though she saw what a mess he was at that point - she knew ultron would come off it. working with ultron, helping him kidnap and force helen cho to create a body. her "guilt" over lagos lasted, like, a day at most and then she went "I can't control their fear, only my own". well maybe do something about it??

westview was a disaster and she actively tortured people, threatened vision when he told her it was wrong and did not apologize once. she was VALIDATED for the shit she did to those people, ripping them away from their loved one's to play a game only she knew rules to, taking away their free will and trapping those she didn't have energy for in complete limbo. she was told THEY were ungrateful for how she set them free. mindboggling
