Too Tired by @captainchrisfics: This piece is grounded in realistic, valid couple conflict, something that I will applaud every time I see it. Chris strikes me as someone who prides themselves in articulating how he feels, so the idea of him getting frustrated with his S/O not being as communicatively inclined seems legit to me. Not to mention, the writing is amazing!
Please donāt say you love me by @fairytelling: Every single one of @fairytellingās Chris Evans pieces are LITERAL PERFECTION, and I highly recommend all of them, but I revisit this one the most because Iām a sucker for a dramatic breakup (only in my entertainment, though lol). Itās like reading a literal movie, and has definitely helped to to inform the way I write. Love, love, love it! š

Hi babes I was hoping you knew of this fic series that Iām looking for. Itās a steve x reader fic. When Steve doesnāt return reader decides to go back in time to talk to him but she ends up in an alternate universe instead where sheās the one who sacrificed and not tony and she thinks sheās returned to her original timeline and they think she was sent by hydra or something so they lock her up but then everything slowly starts falling into place when she explains everything but Iām not sure if I finished it or not. This is why I say capitalism and the patriarchy are intrinsically linked. Capitalism only functions if you have a class of people doing unpaid labour to keep workers supported and families running. Traditionally, that class has been women.
Marriage in this way creates the idea that women are chattels, which leads to a lot of other damaging ideas such as entitlement to sex, which leads to rape culture, or the extreme pressure put on women to be beautiful.
Anyway the point is that capitalism relies on patriarchy to function and therefore we cannot destroy the patriarchy under capitalism.
Knowledge is understanding why Steve Rogers resisted the UN gaining any kind of control of the Avengers considering Nazis infiltrated every other form of governance āaboveā it before.
Wisdom is admitting Tony was still right about the Sokovia Accords (no matter how far up Capās ass I might rightfully be)
What makes Civil War such a great plot line in both the MCU is that neither side was fully wrong. Tony knew they needed oversight (in the comics thereās a council of powered people) that they donāt have. And Steve knew the dangers of being controlled and how that could be exploited.
What made it an even bigger issue in the comics was the depths given to it by the treatment of mutants (watched over by sentinels ordered by the gov), and Johnny Storm (beaten into a coma by angry citizens). AND powered people were being contracted to be bounty hunters for the powered people that refused to register.
I friggin love the complexity of the Civil War storyline.
Yes!!! Instead of āTony was still rightā (considering they both definitely have good points/perspectives) I think a better way I couldāve phrased it would be āhad an extremely valid and honestly really timely concern about the death/damage caused by a group he helped spearhead and therefore felt a moral responsibility for which I and I feel like a lot of people on my timeline at least partially overlooked beforeā lol. I usually stick to the movies since especially around the civil war storyline I fell off the comic wagon a bit (itās been wayyy too long since Iāve even touched one tbh) so thanks for adding more information they left out of the mcuās plot!! That kind of layered dynamic must definitely contribute to such an interesting story especially with the stakes being that much higher

I am not participating.
I was tagged to signal boost, which I did not do. I also asked the OP to remove my tag as I do not want people to mistakenly think I am on board with that decision.Ā
I believe that we need to be visible in order to remain relevant. I donāt believe taking new content away from readers is going to change anything. While I have certainly seen a change in the notes in my years on this site,Ā I donāt believe taking my work away from the readers (especially the true, faithful, constant readers) for that isĀ the right thing to do.
Iām going to keep doing what I do. Iām going to keep writing. Iām going to keep posting. Iām going to keep interacting with those that comment on my fics or send me asks. I donāt care if itās 5 people or 500 people. Iām going to keep doing what I love because if it makes a difference to just ONE person, brightens ONE personās day, makes ONE personās life a little happier, thatās all I want. I donāt even need them to tell me about it.Ā
So yes, I will continue to post in June. What it will be or how much it will be is obviously, still TBD. I had thought about running a writing challenge in June, kind of aĀ āflex your writing musclesā daily drabble thing, but I havenāt really made any solid plans for it, it was literally a passing thought. Who knows, maybe I still will.
