i'd like to add that the shadow color isnt necessarily dictated entirely by the primary light source, but the bounce light! so for the example of a sunny environment, the reason the shadows are blue are because of the light from the blue sky reflects across the environment; but, if the character were to be under tree cover, the bounce light would be coming from the leaves and thus the shadow would look greener.
Yee yee!!! You got it right on the nose!
Bounce light is something I didn't cover but I adore it!
Gotta work on my bounce light πͺ
Yay for local color and color relativity! I love seeing artists continuing to share and learn from each other!
Also, if your colors look too flat/muddy when you use a single color layer filter, use a gradient map layer instead and THEN change the mode of the layer. Adjust the gradient map to have slightly different colors for your shadows, mids, and lights until you're happier with it and things aren't as flat/muddy!
This is just a quick and dirty example, but it gets the point across.
Some practice with perspective

rom-707 hi! can i know what do you use to do this kind of storyboard??? (love it btw hehehe)
Hi there! :D I use layer comps in Photoshop to storyboard! I like using layer comps since I like being able to flip through my boards, almost like animation paper so I can see how the shots are working in continuity and when I have to animate acting, camera moves etc. I've been using layer comps my entire career in story, and I learned how to set up my hot keys from Ian Abando's layer comps tutorial here. The only downside is having very large Photoshop files for scenes, and typically I divide up a scene into separate file chunks so I don't have a large amount of layers in one single file.
