Ash Wednesday comes to the street of Downtown Sacramento.

First image: Shelley Muller, who works in Downtown Sacramento, receives ashes from the Reverend Helen Harper on Ash Wednesday. "Everyone's so busy," said Muller. "I thought I could whip in, get some ashes, start my Lent.  I think it's nice."

Loreen says "people get too busy and can't go to their church. This is church coming to them."

Buddhist monks visiting from southern India bring the colorful art and tradition of mandala to Sacramento.  The five-day project at Sac State involves completing the sand painting, dissembling it, then pouring some of the sand into small bags as gifts. Sacramento County performed its homeless count last night. The data gathered will help determine the allocation of grants and government funds for programs to help homeless people in the region.  CapRadio tagged along with some of the volunteers walking Sacramento's River District, an area with a large homeless population.

Sacramento resident Joshua Littell has been a fan of professional wrestling for much of his life. However, when he was 29 his interest turned into a new identity beyond his day job as a waiter. On the third weekend of every month, he wrestles for Supreme Pro Wrestling (SPW) in Sacramento as Sir Samurai. Take a look into his world in this mini-documentary from CapRadio.

Heartland Rolls Into Downtown Sacramento

Midday Friday featured a bit of farm life in the heart of downtown Sacramento. Tractors from all over the region traveled from West Sacramento to the Capitol in a parade marking the start of the annual Farm-to-Fork celebration.
