“Break time!”

An exasperated sigh dropped Adeleine to the ground, bookbag slipping quick off her back. She and Ribbon had been walking and flying respectively for a while now, traveling through the planet's prettiest sights. So a camping sight on the mountain's sunsetting peak was the perfect way to end the day.

From her bag, a blanket was laid out, snacks set up and large tent painted, laid down with a light hanging from the inside. It was time to relax with Ribbon after exploring the day away with her.

“This is a nice place to park, isn’t it? I can’t think of a better setting! I’d draw it all if I wasn’t so tired.” Cue an overdramatic flop to her back, beret falling off and everything. If the giggles meant anything, it was pretty clear that she was having fun.

Nothing like a good fright, huh? The girl let out a small yelp of sudden fear after the gaze of a glowy-eyed multi-hand creature who most certainly wasn’t there mere seconds before caught her line of sight.

“Hi, c-can I help you with anything? Can't say I've ever seen you around before, friend!” It was hard to keep a casual chat up while trying to catch your breath back, but she was trying.

Adeleine certainly stuck out on this planet. Most of the people around were a bit more serious looking, weapons at their sides and armor protecting them from whatever in the world inhabited this world. The colorful painter, on the other hand, was doing what she knew best. Paint! She would receive some strange stares every now and again, but a lovely painting kept her attention off of them. Creating a nitty-gritty piece of artwork every now and again is good to switch the pace.

Sights stuck to a person remaining in front of her, though, hand naturally drawing them before realizing they weren't moving. “Oh, can I help you? Sorry, I'm not in your way, am I? I’m just painting is all. This pretty town here is turning out for a really great picture, and, heh, you're in it now.” Neck got a slight rub while sharing a sheepish smile. She hoped they didn’t mind.

Honestly, this is just my ideal version of Adeleine. I like her pins, she definitely has a lot of her friends, and a bookbag to keep her painting tools and other necessities in there, due to the fact that she travels a whole bunch. This is the Adeleine I’ll picture whenever writing.

I wanna make more of a personality out of Adeleine that's not just Painter. Like I'm writing a starter right now while thinking of the next one, and they both involve her painting. And she's a painter, sure, it's expected. But I would rather that not be her entire personality. I'm...not sure how anyone could help, I'm hoping her character just develops the more I write her, but shrugs.

“Adeleine, I was told you were looking for me?” The fairy queen had been busy with diplomatic matters, but when she was told that the human had asked to speak with her in private, Ripple could not find it in her to say no. The artist was a friend and a dear one at that. Who was she to deny her?

“Come, tell me what’s on your mind. Do you need help with something?”

The painter seemed more panicked than normal. Constantly hopping back and forth, pacing and mumbling to herself. Fanning herself with her own beret or messing with her hair... It was rather clear the girl was going through something or other. And she had thought of asking Queen Ripple for help, but eventually waved the idea away. Apparently, the fairy she'd asked for Ripple's attention didn't do the same. So there she stood, fidgety as could be with the most medial dilemma in the world, about to ask a Queen for help on it.

“U-Um.” There's that nervous tick, not-so-cleverly disguised as a polite gesture. She'd taken her hat off, like most would indoors, squeezing its sides. “Would you...mind if I lived here on Ripple Star? I regularly travel from planet to planet, but I wouldn't mind having a place to c-call home.” Rocks back and forth on her heels. “E-Especially when my friends are so close by. Makes me feel happy. And safe.” A quiet nod of the head to the Queen herself. “I could be your royal p-painter or something? I don't know. You and your people have been so kind, I-I just feel like I’ve gotta repay everyone somehow.” Mumbling too. That floor looked pretty interesting with how much Adeleine was staring at it.

“Whoa, that’s awesome! You really do have a magic paintbrush!” Can anyone blame Sage for being a little skeptical at first? Kirby’s home planet might’ve been home to some pretty strange (and cool) stuff, but he had to see that girl’s magic brush in action before he could believe it. Of course, that gave him an idea… a funny little prank to pull on a certain unsuspecting Papa. He didn’t even try to keep that mischievous grin off of his face when he spoke up again. “Hey, hey–can I borrow it for a second? I’ll give it right back, I promise.”

“Of course I do! I wouldn't wanna be known for telling a fib!”

She totally understood the initial disbelief. It wasn't often you met a person who contained the unique ability to create life with every piece of art she created with a magical paintbrush. The colored-in cat trotting about the ground soon dispersed into a puddle of paint, her showcase ending.

Though with the kid's less than trusting expression filling his face, grip on her brush couldn't help but tighten. “...Depends what'cha need it for! Got a picture you wanna draw? Idea spinning in your head? What's on your mind?” It was certainly for the best that she didn't give out her most prized possession for free. Even still, while she talked, a hand had painted up another brush. Ignoring the fact that it contained a little less magical paint on its bristles. Pulled from the stand and handed off to the kid, maybe that would subdue his wants? It couldn’t create life, but it could create art all the same!

Some pictures have Adeleine depicted with a star pin on her beret, like the one Kirby gets whenever he receives the Painter ability. Yeah, well, Adeleine definitely has a pin of Ribbon's logo instead of a star.

You know I like that planet name but I was trying to think of one of the canon planets but. I like that planet name. You wanna keep it, keep it.

Oh. Yeah, I always take canon with a grain of salt. You can take it or leave it. And I don’t know a single canon planet that a bunch of humans could fit on, since many of them in canon are either explored and for certain contain no humans, or as vague as I don’t know what and kept to a simple name. Plus I uh. Don’t know Kirby well enough to know obscure planets like that.

Yeah, that’s why I was like ‘planet evacuation’ in the tags. The popular headcanon is that Shiver Star is Earth but frozen over and taken over by robots. But I think it’s kinda sad that Adeleine’s planet is totally frozen over...and I’m honestly trying my hardest not to angst Adeleine up?? Also it makes me think how awful it would’ve felt to go to Shiver Star during the events of Kirby 64. But the idea of Kirby, Ribbon, Dedede and Waddle Dee supporting her while they made their way through the planet is really sweet.
