Stardew Headcanon #9: Morris and Linus are more than they appear.

After earning five hearts with Gus, the farmer will get a visit from him on their front step one morning. Gus confesses that he was a little unsure about the farmer's arrival at first. Adding new ingredients to a sauce risks ruining it - or turning it into something new and delicious. As someone who loves drama and character arcs, I was a little disappointed that this wasn't evident from the start. The only characters that really snub you are Shane and Linus, and they explain it later, if you persist. It made me think of how alone Blue must have felt when she first got to the farm. It had belonged to her grandfather once, but he wasn't there any longer, and the farm was in such disrepair that there wasn't much of his presence remaining - besides the shrine, of course. To the townsfolk, she was an utter stranger, and inexperienced to boot. She tired quickly after each day of work, and seemed to need constant guidance. How lovely might it have been to be able to accept aid from fellow farmers who knew more about thriving in the valley than she did? Pierre and Caroline teaching her how to tend seeds and saplings; Robin showing her the best way to fell a tree or where best to strike a rock to split it; Marnie teaching her the importance of building a stock of feed before inviting livestock onto the property. Really building a sense of community, then finding a way to give back to everyone with what the farm produced.
