Maybe he can take them to one of the more secluded offices and see just how strong their survival instincts are….

But no that wouldn't work. If Rex disappeared for too long, Eric would come looking for him and then people would know that there's a new employee here who just got taught the meaning of Restarts the hard way.

He almost sighs in disappointment.

"Then I'm lucky I ran into you, a skinny guy like me could definitely use some protectin around these wild hallways." He says jokingly, but he does take the chance to playfully grab their hand the way a distressed damsel might.

“Seriously? This place is weird but it can’t be that weird.” They smirk as their eyes go to rex’s arm, giving them pause “…bit it?”

People go days, weeks, even months without experiencing the horrors the Office has to offer. Usually, it's because they are smart enough to keep their head down, stay close to those who are friendly, like Jonathan or the Sommers or Wagner.

But then there are people like Rex and Quinn, who aren't stupid but good at attracting trouble. Rex can see it in them, even if he's just met them. That stubborn, casual look. They think they can take on whatever the world throws at them, probably. Rex thinks that too, even with his mutilated arm and broken soul and the ever climbing number of deaths he's experienced.

“Mmm, so a regular old office job, i imagine. Got it, noted.” They roll their eyes, beginning to walk through the room and into the next. “i’ll confess there’s a reason this is my first.”

“On the other hand, weird asshole telling me what to do constantly and no way to leave? Now that checks out. Feels like home, even.” They joke. “Matter of time until i get tired of this shithole, too, and find myself at the next place.”

“So, what, everyone who worked here before just disappeared? Died?”

"Some of em disappeared. No one knows what happened to them. Died, ran away, got lost, who knows. Others are still milling around. Usually folks from the fourth floor for whatever reason. I aint gonna bullshit you, Quinn. You believe in alternate universes? Magic? Shit like that? Even if you don't, you better start because this isn't a normal hostage situation."

He pushes up his right sleeve, revealing a sleek, black prosthetic arm, one that looks like it came out of a sci-fi movie. Definitely much more fancy than someone who works in an office and someone who looks like Rex should possess. With a nonchalant plop, Rex disconnects the prosthetic to show Quinn a gnarly, uneven stump of what used to be his arm.

“Seriously? This place is weird but it can’t be that weird.” They smirk as their eyes go to rex’s arm, giving them pause “…bit it?”

"I can show you around if you wanna."

Quinn looks slightly startled, they’ve barely spoken to anyone since they moved in.

He takes his side next to xem, and gestures to the rows of empty desks. The computers sit idly on them, some of them bouncing screensavers around, others black screens reflecting the fluorescent lighting from above.

"If ya look to your left you can see the rotting dreams of corporate America. Once full of dead eyed worker bees hopin the next paycheck's gonna be the one that'll carry em outta their bleak, pointless lives that'll kill em before they ever experience any kinda freedom. Of course, that aint what killed them. That was the force of somethin' far more sinister."

Rex smirks at Quinn, like he finds it all incredibly funny.
